Latin Jazz Singer Claudia Salguero and her 10-piece band will perform ROMANTICA at the NAC on April 4 and 5
Based in Ottawa since 2001, Claudia is a Colombian award winning Photo-fine-artist, Latin Jazz singer and a passionate amateur ice sculptor.
As a visual artist Claudia blends photography, digital and traditional art into a magical mix. In 2006 she won 1st place at the Black and White Spider Awards in London, England. In 2007, after being sponsored by Hewlett Packard Canada as Digital Artist, Claudia became part of the international group “Corel Painter Masters”. She is currently one of the only three Painter Masters in Canada and the only one from Latin America in this group.
Claudia has had various individual exhibitions and has participated in many group shows in Canada and abroad. She is currently represented by Michael Gennis Gallery in Ottawa, Ambiance Gallery in Old Montreal and Broadway Gallery in NYC. Her images can be found in private and corporate collections. Claudia teaches and regularly makes presentations about her technique to professional conferences and artist associations in Canada and Latin-America.

During the 2011 Winterlude’s Ice Carving Public Challenge Claudia discovered a love for Ice Sculpting. She and her daughter Manuela, student of art at Concordia University, participated as amateur carvers creating a piece entitled “Twisted Cello”. Claudia and Manuela participated again in 2012 winning the competition with the piece “Music, always music” and in 2013 wining the 2nd price with their piece “Totem Bird”. CBC news:

Living by the senses Claudia is also a singer. Accompanied by her 10-piece band she interprets romantic Latin Jazz.
Following five sold-out shows during 2011 and 2012 at the Forth Stage, National Arts Center, Claudia and her band will perform again at the NAC on April 4 and 5, 2013.
Part of the proceeds of Claudia’s concerts always go to Fundacion Ayuda a la infancia en Colombia.
