The YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region is inviting all local job seekers and anyone considering a career change to attend its Employment Access Centre Job Fair, happening February 6 at the Taggart Family Y.
This annual event matches job seekers with prospective employers from a broad range of sectors including service, trades, health care, the public sector and more. Over 20 local and national employers are registered to attend the event.
Employers hiring at the job fair include: the RCMP, Revenue Canada, Home Depot, the City of Ottawa, Delta Hotel, St. Louis Bar & Grill, ServiceMaster, Brookstreet Hotel, Donnelly Automotive Group and many more.
Job Fair attendees can speak face-to-face with hiring employers and learn more about their desired position.
“The Y Employment Access Centre Job Fair is a great way to learn about local job opportunities and connect with hiring employers,” says Cathy Turnbull, Vice President of Housing, Employment and Newcomer Services for the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region. “Even for people who are currently employed, the Job Fair is an excellent opportunity to explore new career options.”
The Y has two Employment Access Centre locations in Ottawa. Each location provides a range of resources and supports to job seekers including employment consultations, job search support and more. The centres host regular workshops and provide referrals to other community agencies and government programs that assist with employment.
The Job Fair will run from 1-4PM on Thursday, February 6 on the 2nd floor of the Taggart Family Y, located at 180 Argyle Avenue, Ottawa. It is free to attend and open to the public. The Job Fair is an Employment Ontario program funded in part by the Government of Canada.
