Essence Catering won its second consecutive Judge’s Choice Award this past weekend at the 10th Annual Carefor Chocolate Competition. The event was a fundraiser for Carefor and it was held at the Centurion Conference and Event Centre in Ottawa on March 8.
Essence Catering entered the competition for the second time knowing that their efforts will go towards a good cause. Carefor’s fundraiser aims to help people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia access community programs. These programs offer day-long activities and personal care that allows the client’s main caregiver to take a welcomed break. At last year’s competition, Carefor was able to raise $32,000. This year, they surpassed their goal of $33,000.
“Chocolate and Cherries” took home the prize, beating out 11 other competitors. The dessert contained four different kinds of chocolate, including chocolate truffles, a cherry chocolate ganache, and whipped mascarpone on top.
