Top 5 Ways to Add Instant Curb Appeal to your Exterior

Let’s face it, as much as we’d like to believe that first impressions are really not as significant as everyone believes, the reality is, research indicates that first impressions are made in as quickly as 1/10th of a second. [1]

As the old cliché goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, so let’s discuss the top 5 ways that you can add instant curb appeal to your home exterior.

5.  Keep a well manicured lawn.  Nothing screams “pristine abode” like a well manicured lawn and garden.  Be sure to tidy up the winter debris and prepare your lawn and garden for the months to come.

4.  Illuminate your life.  Solar powered technology has introduced so many decorative walkway lighting options.  The trick is to match your exterior with an appropriate, complimentary style.  Remember…less is more.

3.  Select Appropriate Finishings.  When you are dressing up your exterior be sure to select products and materials that are conducive to the natural environment, suit the style of the home and will stand up to the elements.

2.  Protect Your Investment.  Ensure that the project that you are creating suits your lifestyle.  High maintenance plants and products require copious amounts of attention.  Choose them wisely.

1.  Preparation & Planning.   Always consider the FULL size of the plants that you are selecting.  Sure we all want privacy, but those baby cedars strategically placed 3″ apart now, will certainly be problematic 5 years from now.
