Q:  What’s your favourite Canada Day memory?

A:  Performing last year at the Burlington Waterfront for Canada Day is a favourite that comes to mind. It was so great to see families out and about together, having fun, and enjoying Canadian music!

Q:  How will you be celebrating this Canada Day?

A:  I will be in Ireland this year for Canada Day, so I will have to create my own celebration! Perhaps we’ll have a little backyard party and I’ll deck the place out in red and white – the Irish are always up for a party!

Q:  What are your plans for the rest of the summer?

A:  We are just finishing up my new album in London (England), which has been an incredible experience. James Bryan (Philosopher Kings, Nelly Furtado, Lisa Marie Presley) produced, we worked in three different studios (including Abbey Road!) with world class players, so it was an absolute dream. I cannot wait to share it! Gibson Guitars invited us to headline their stage at Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival at the O2 in London a couple of weeks ago to debut the songs, which was so much fun and a great way to kick things off. As far as upcoming plans go, the album will be coming out this summer (date TBA), and it’s going to be non-stop travel from now till the end of the year: Australia, Ireland and the UK in June & July; back home in Canada and the USA for August doing promo and a few shows; then back to the UK, and on it goes! Irish singer/songwriter Ryan Kelly is featured on the album and we’re looking at the possibility of touring together in the fall, so we’ll see how things pan out. Lots in the works and a few surprises in mind for everyone along the way – just the way I like it!

Q: What’s your favourite Canada Day memory?

A:  A couple of years ago I was performing in Strathmore for Canada Day. The whole town has several celebrations in the park and one of them was a cake raffle. However, the auctioneer became unavailable. I volunteered my Dad, who is known to be quite the character….and he agreed! He has never auctioned off anything before, but he auctioned the heck out of those cakes and was quite the comedian doing it. I’ll never forget it.

Q:  How will you be celebrating this Canada Day?

A:  I have no plans yet….

Q:  What are your plans for the rest of the summer?

A:  I’m taking a bit of time off to enjoy some travelling! I’ll play some shows here and there, but mostly I’ll be travelling to Hawaii and New York and wherever else my life takes me! The world is calling….
