A Guide to the BEST Haunted Halloween Activities in Ottawa

That spooky season is upon us again and there are tons of hallo-themed activities going on in the city. You have two more weeks left to pack in some (or all) of these fright night spectaculars, so keep reading for the most terrifically terrifying activities around.

FrightFest at Saunders Farm

Friday & Saturday nights

Hallo-week October 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31

$38.00-$40.00

Spending a Friday or Saturday night at this 100-acre farm is a must during Halloween season, especially since your favorite haunts have been updated with “the latest scaring technology to keep you on your toes”. First make your way to the deepest and darkest corner to experience The Shambles – rated as the scariest attraction here, “this abattoir was built to slaughter mutilated beasts but they soon revolted and took over”. Then be sure to check out The Coven, Barn of Terror:Bug House and the classic Haunted Hayride. And that’s not all – they’ve also got Jumping Pillows and a bunch of food & drink options including The Tipsy Tombstone Tavern. Oh and don’t forget a caramel apple!

Incident at the Diefenbunker: A Zombie Adventure

October 20, 27 & 28, November 3rd

$26.75

The Diefenbunker has once again partnered with The Haunted Walk of Ottawa to offer you an interactive adventure within a unique historical site. This is a Halloween adventure with a “perfect combination of storytelling, interactive challenges, unexpected surprises and of course…zombies”. So, hurry and get your tickets – they’re limited and expected to sell out.

Skreamers

October 19 & 20, 25-31

$20

Men, women, children, and pets are vanishing in Cumberland – local residents and rival farmers have long suspected that an urban legend has been brewing and it’s beginning to look like the legend may be real! With 150 actors, two haunted houses, a wagon ride, and four paintball stations, this haunted farm in support of the Kiwanis Club can’t be missed this Halloween season.

Haunted House on a Hill

October 19 & 20, 26 & 27

$10.25

The Mansion at Billings Estate National Historic Site was established in the 1800s and is the former home of one of the region’s earliest settlers. But for the month of October it has been transformed into a super scary experience chalk full of live actors, endless chills & thrills, and a detour to Ottawa’s oldest on-site cemetery. It’s recommended to purchase tickets online in advance and that children under 14 be accompanied by an adult.

Great Pumpkin Charity Ball

Saturday, October 27th

$40

Get dressed up in that costume you’ve been planning for the last few weeks because there’s a great reason to wear it! With two floors of partying (a live band upstairs and DJ Ilon along with friends from JUMP Radio downstairs), amazing burlesque performances, a complimentary photo booth, door & raffle prizes, and multiple cash bars, there’s no better way to party on Halloween than with 750 costumed revelers at St. Brigid’s Haunted Castle in the Byward Market. Plus a portion of proceeds go to support four major charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Ottawa Food Bank.
