The winners of the Scotiabank EcoLiving Awards have been announced!

On Wednesday, June 3, famous Canadian entrepreneur, Arlene Dickinson, announced the winners of this eco-innovation competition at a gala reception at the Art Gallery of Ontario, after a panel of expert judges reviewed the finalists. And the award goes to…Krumpers Solar Solutions Inc.

The Canadian company and Ottawa-based owner Diana Livshits received the $50,000 Business Leadership Award. This prize—the largest of the three—honours a business providing eco-friendly products or services to the residential sector.

Krumpers creates specially designed solar blinds that can manage the fluctuating climate in your home. Livshits came up with the idea for Krumpers after experiencing significant temperature extremes in her home. To create a solution, Livshits and her husband, Yury, established the company in 2008.

Not only does Krumpers help to decrease your carbon footprint, but it can also save you up to 40 per cent on your annual heating and cooling bill. The company’s products are designed to help businesses and homeowners save on their utility consumption while reducing their environmental impact—and they look good too!

“At Krumpers, we believe that in order for people to reduce their energy consumption, the products they use must do so in a way that doesn’t impede their lifestyle. It’s the opposite, it must enhance their experience,” Livshits says.

The Scotiabank EcoLiving Awards honours eco-friendly Canadian businesses, entrepreneurs and students who are taking action by ensuring a greener future with innovations for your home.
