The message was clear: Bring it on Boston!

Work and weather couldn't keep Ottawa Senators fans away about 100 Sens Army faithful showed up at City Hall today waving flags and wearing jerseys to show they were ready for hockey.

The Sens Mile on Elgin Street officially opened at 12:30 today with a flag raising ceremony, installation of the street's sign and, of course, an excited Sparty Cat jacking up the crowd. "Go Sens Go," was chanted throughout the event with cars horns blaring behind showing support. Mayor Watson said the flag will fly until we bring home the cup!

As is Watson's tradition, the Mayor sought out the rival team's Mayor to make a friendly wager. Not wanting to jinx his team, Boston's Marty Walsh polity declined. Undeterred, Watson made his bet with the U.S. Embassy. It'll be Boston Cream Pies vs Beavertails! No word on if the entire city gets a slice should the Sens be victorious.

Elgin has become the ground zero gathering point for Sens fans who turn the street into a sea of red come game day, cars making a celebratory ruckus after each win.

The Mile has also been a boon for local businesses during the Stanley Cup Playoffs with pubs now adding more televisions for the expected packed crowds. It is suggested you arrive early if you want to get a seat and expect kitchens to be a bit more overrun than usual.

Game One starts at 7 tonight inside the Canadian Tire Centre.
