For the fifth consecutive year, CBC has teamed up with Canada Scene and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity to host the nationwide musical talent contest CBC Searchlight. Thousands of entries from across the country were received and to conclude the contest for this year the winner, Vancouver-based folk-rock quartet The Long War, will be headlining a special concert called CBC Searchlight Live! at the gorgeous, newly-renovated National Arts Centre on July 2nd.

The band will be performing various songs, including their contest-winning track “Breathe In Breathe Out,” but will not be alone for the night! Joining the winning group on stage for this special event will be JUNO-nominated singer Royal Wood. Wood will serve as the host for the evening, as well as perform a special duet with The Long War, which he co-wrote with the band.

The top three runner-ups of this year’s contest will also be performing at the concert; singer-songwriter Jaryd Stanley from New Brunswick, teenage indie trio The Wolfe from Saskatchewan and RnB soloist WILL from Toronto. With this eclectic mix of musicians of different backgrounds and styles, this is sure to be an amazing evening showcasing the diversity and joy of Canadian music. If you’re a music lover and are looking for something else to add to your Canada Day weekend schedule, this will surely be a great choice!
