Get Cooking, Ottawa!

Whether you live alone or with a large family, life never seems to stop. Between yoga, work and soccer practice, it is no wonder planning out meals and cooking at home has taken a back seat.

GET COOKING logo 1Moulinex wants to change that! It is introducing the Get Cooking Challenge to help Canadians eat better, healthier and save money.

Did you know the average Canadian household throws away about two thousand dollars a year in groceries that have gone bad? I know I am guilty of letting my strawberries get moldy! Also, we spend thousands of dollars on eating out every year. Moulinex believes the Get Cooking Challenge will bring awareness to this lost money and often unhealthy dining.

All you have to do is pledge to cook at home for a month. Moulinex has partnered with registered dietician Abbey Sharp to design balanced weekly meal plans that will be sent straight to your inbox. The plan is accompanied with a grocery list to ensure ease and that no grocery will go unused (or moldy)!

The Get Cooking Challenge kicks off September 15. Take the pledge with your family and start cooking together this fall. And for participating, you will be entered in weekly draws for Moulinex kitchen appliances. It does not get much better—or easier—than that!

Here is one example of a quick, easy and healthy recipe you will be sent:

Ingredients

1 ½ cups rolled oats
¾ cup natural almond butter
¼ cup cashews, finely chopped
2 tbsp honey
½ cup dried cranberries
1/8th tsp cinnamon

Directions

In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, almond butter, cashews, honey, cranberries and cinnamon. Roll them into 12 balls (about 1 inch in size). Transfer to an air tight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before eating.
