January 29th to 31st

Here at Ottawa Life we are always looking out for great things to do on a weekend! Check out some of the events that are happening right here in our city this weekend.

National Arts Center, Peter Katz – Jan. 29th (7:30 PM)
This Saturday the NAC presents Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Peter Katz. Katz, who has received much praise for his folk sound and stunning vocals, was recently crowned Best Male Vocalist in NOW Magazine’s Best of Toronto 2014 poll. We recommend that you catch the Katz hype.

17.Boulos.Amanda
“Info”, Amanda Boulos, Oil on canvas. 66″ x 55″. 2013.

Studio Sixty Six, Split Spit Mound by Amanda Boulos – Jan. 30th (5:00 PM)
Split Spit Mound is a painting and video installation by the incredibly talented Toronto artist Amanda Boulos. The abstract work is described as an intrusion into personal history, military conflict, and the duality of cultural identity. We are fascinated by Boulos’ use of geometric shapes and colours, and we think you will be, too.

LIFT Resto Lounge, True Canadian Experience: Food & Beverage Meets, Culture, Art & Entertainment – Jan. 29th (5:30 PM)
We are fans of anything that combines food, beverage, culture, arts and entertainment. Last night, we had the honor of attending this event and it was incredible. You can read more about it here, but you should also experience it for yourself. Admission includes access to live food stations, local brewer’s stations, wine stations, crafted cocktails, music from local artists and art featuring local painters and sculptors!

St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, The Parson’s Widow (silent film) – Jan. 30th (7:00 PM)
Attention movie buffs! The boys and girls choirs of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in the Glebe present The Parson’s Widow, a 1920 silent comedy/drama film by the acclaimed Danish director Carl Theodor CUTC_overviewDreyer. The film will be accompanied by music from Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, Norwegian folk music sung by the Boys and Girls Choir, and musical improvisations on piano and organ.

TD Place Stadium, Guinness World Record Event – Jan. 31st (10:00AM)
Come one, come all! Be apart of history and attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for the most snowmen built in one hour! This is a free event, and one that we guarantee that the kiddos – young and old – will enjoy.
