Local Ottawa radio station JUMP! 106.9 has started a nine-week, city-wide search for a new morning show co-host. And that co-host could be you!

No experience? No problem! Jump! is offering a rare chance to bypass all of the studying, less-than-ideal radio jobs and work for an almost instantaneous shot at having the, “Greatest Gig On Earth.” All you have to be is over 18 years of age.

Hopeful broadcasters have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to pursue their dreams by landing a full-time co-hosting job alongside the current morning show host Tony Stark.

Jump! 106.9 is hoping to find someone who possesses the qualities of a great radio host, whose bold and vibrant attitude will reflect the station’s image.

“We’re looking for the fresh, new voice of Ottawa radio—someone the entire city will love listening to,” said Mark Dickie, general manager of Corus Radio Ottawa.

Dickie believes social media has opened the door to finding on-air talent in new, non-traditional ways, such as this contest.

“Interaction on social media and our station’s mobile application is tremendously important,” he said. “Over the nine-week period, applicants will be given a number of fun tasks to complete over social media, allowing us to get a true sense of their character.”

Dickie emphasizes they are searching for just about anyone with an innovative perspective.

“We’ve launched this search in hopes of finding a total radio newbie. We want teachers, dishwashers, bartenders, etc., to know they have a chance to be Tony Stark’s co-host on JUMP!’s Breakfast Show. No radio experience is required.”

The process is simple: Upload a 90-second video of yourself to YouTube and complete the entry form at www.jumpradio.ca.

The station will comb through the videos and narrow the entries down to 30. The public will be able to vote online for their favourites, creating a top 10 list. A live audition process will cut participants in half and then the final three. The winner will be announced on-air on Friday, May 8.
