Let’s Convince the CBC to Make The Hockey Song the Official Theme of Hockey Night in Canada

Ottawa Life Magazine (OLM),  the National Capital Region’s largest, longest-running (est. 1996) and most popular general interest and lifestyles magazine, is asking Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast to visit its website and post their names on a petition requesting that the CBC make Stompin’ Tom Connors’ The Good Old Hockey Game the official song for Hockey Night in Canada.

Ottawa Life’s publisher and managing editor Dan Donovan said that: “There could be no greater honour to the memory of Stompin’ Tom than to make his signature song The Good Old Hockey Game the theme song of Canada’s most popular hockey program. Let’s face it, CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada is Canada’s most popular show, but it needs a tune. And nothing could be a better opening tune for the show and lasting tribute to Stompin’ Tom than The Good Old Hockey Game. They go together like Romeo and Juliet, peanut butter and jelly, pork and beans, Abbott and Costello, surf ‘n turf, ham and cheese, bacon and eggs, salt and pepper, wings and beer… Stompin’ Tom and Hockey Night in Canada. The marriage of our beloved hockey show with our beloved songwriter and his AWESOME song… you get the theme here.
