Ottawa’s GRILLZ n’ Glam Brings Coveted Taqueria La Carnita to Town

It’s a natural fit.

Ottawans are in for a treat this coming Friday (May 10) as the city’s own GRILLZ n’ Glam welcomes Toronto culinary taqueria kings La Carnita to its bi-monthly soirée at Babylon Nightclub.

Alhough it is a first-time collaboration in Ottawa, GRILLZ n’ Glam co-founder Dario Petruzzi is no stranger to La Carnita’s co-founder Andrew Richmond. The two, based out of Toronto, joined forces when La Carnita turned from taco truck to brix and mortar Mexican restaurant just last year. Petruzzi, who also happens to be a buzz-worthy up-and-coming Canadian DJ (@brains4brkfst), has been mixing beats for La Carnita’s hip-hop-inspired atmosphere and urban crowd in Toronto.

So, why the collab in Ottawa? Because it makes sense.

Street art + street food = the La Carnita philosophy. Since they tweeted their way onto the Toronto art and food scene in the summer of 2011, La Carnita has spearheaded the change toward community-focused experiences by serving up pop-up gourmet food stations with a side of local one-of-a-kind street art.

GRILLZ n’ Glam (created three years ago), sprang from a similar philosophy and has since altered Ottawa’s social landscape. Blending the best of glam rock, hip-hop and anything else worth raising a half-empty glass to, GRILLZ n’ Glam has become Ottawa’s biggest Friday night party.

“What started as something small has really grown into a thriving, highly anticipated community-focused event in Ottawa’s competitive Friday night market,” said Petruzzi. “It’s all about the fun, the music, the dancing and the vibe. We continually strive to raise the bar by strategically partnering with like-minded brands, which is why we’re psyched to have La Carnita out.”

Hell yes!), GRILLZ’ n Glam have always endeavored to offer unique, culturally-worthy experiences to denizens of the nation’s capital city.

“We’re all about collaboration and cultural community-focused experiences,” said Richmond. “That’s how we got our start. So, working with Dario seemed like a natural fit. The party embodies everything that La Carnita is about – an urban vibe, community, creativity, culture. We’re really excited to introduce Ottawans to the La Carnita brand – and gourmet tacos, of course – with GRILLZ n’ Glam.”

The coveted La Carnita pop-up taqueria will invade the GRILLZ n’ Glam shaker, offering a mouthwatering selection of tacos as well as their coveted street art prints. Killer tunes by DJs NDN and brains4brkfst, Mexican-inspired eats, and one-of-a-kind street art will bring the night to a whole new level.
