Ottawa Welcomes the World: Colombia at the Horticulture Building, August 18

Ottawa celebrates the contribution of Colombia’s rich cultural heritage with a showcase of its food, music, dance and more! Free admission from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


Melanie Peterson at Avant Garde, August 18

Canadian singer-songwriter Melanie Peterson is finally coming to the capital. The musician will be performing next Friday evening at Avant Garde, a bar and music venue located on 135 1/2 Besserer Street. Catch Melanie Peterson live at 8:30 PM.

Songs in a Minor - A Tribute to Alicia Keys at Arts Court Theatre, August 19

Ottawa’s Renée Landry is back to pay tribute to Alicia Keys’ groundbreaking album “Songs In A Minor”. An evening of soul and R&B music, “Songs In A Minor” will celebrate the incredible songwriting of Keys’ debut album. The concert will be backed by a 7-piece band of some of Ottawa and Montreal’s best. Transport back to the early 2000’s and be taken on a journey with your favourite “Songs In A Minor” hits, with songs like “Fallin’”, “A Woman’s Worth”, “Caged Bird”, and Keys’ hit singles like “Karma” and “If I Ain’t Got You”. “Alicia Keys’ “Songs in A Minor” blew up the music scene. Tickets cost $25.00.


Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light at Canadian Museum of History, until August 19

Fireworks experts will be demonstrating their skills in this wondrous battle of light and sound in the Ottawa/Gatineau’s sky. Comfortably seated on the shores of the Ottawa River in the backyard of the Canadian Museum of History, visitors can enjoy amazing displays launched in the most iconic scenery in the country, the Canada’s Parliament Hill. Curd Festival from St-Albert Cheese Factory, until August 20

The Festival takes place on the fields beside St-Albert Cheese Coop, on 150, ST-PAUL St., ST-ALBERT. Wednesday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. FREE Curds during all the activities going under the Big Top.
