Ottawa Busker Festival on Sparks Street, August 3-7

Ottawa International Buskerfest is taking over Sparks Street for the 26th year for an exciting 4 days! World class performers from all over the world will grace and amaze downtown Ottawa with award-winning shows perfected after many years of training and practicing in blood, sweat and smiles (no tears here)! Brought to you by Bell, Sponsors, Orbital Talent and Sparks Street. Prepare to be enthralled by fire-breathers, contortionists, acrobats and more. Get ready for stomach clenching comedy too, these performers all know how to make an audience laugh.


Capital Ribfest at Ottawa City Hall, August 3-7

The new big BBQ foodie experience, will be taking over downtown Ottawa. Free admission, lots of Ribbers, live music, craft beer gardens and much more!


Cirque du Soleil: VOLTA in Gatineau, August 3-27

Inspired in part by the spirit of adventure, get your adrenaling rushing by the spectacular acrobatic prowess presented in a visually striking world paired with melodic and engaging music.


Ottawa’s Tacofest 2017 at Shaw Centre, August 5

This is Ottawa’s fourth annual TacoFest where the city’s best taco makers will be united under one roof to showcase their culinary spins on this people’s favorite. 4PM-11PM. $10 entry only. All food is priced between $2-5. Tickets will be available at the door for $15. No children allowed.


Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light at Canadian Museum of History, August 5-19

Fireworks experts will be demonstrating their skills in this wondrous battle of light and sound in the Ottawa/Gatineau’s sky. Comfortably seated on the shores of the Ottawa River in the backyard of the Canadian Museum of History, visitors can enjoy amazing displays launched in the most iconic scenery in the country, the Canada’s Parliament Hill. General admission, reserved seats or dinner and show packages.


CASINO DU LAC-LEAMY SOUND OF LIGHT at Nepean Point, August 5 and 9

Together, The Montfort Hospital Foundation and Casino Du Lac-Leamy are pleased to welcome spectators to Nepean Point for the spectacular 2017 edition of Casino Du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light. Five of the best international pyrotechnical teams are responsible for creating a unique and outstanding display of light and sound inspired by our country and its history. This location, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Ottawa River and the capital, will provide a unique vantage point to take in the show.

Enjoy five evenings of pyromusical art: Saturday, August 5th – Ontario; Wednesday, August 9th – Manitoba.


25th Festival Country du Grand Gatineau at Casino du Lac-Leamy, until August 6

Over 40 country music artists perform on outdoor stages under big tops, as well as indoors. Tickets start $25. From 1pm – 7pm.


Ottawa Welcomes the World: Macedonia at the Horticulture Building, August 6

Highlights of the program will be the renowned Macedonian-Canadian cultural folklore ensemble dance groups. Music lovers will enjoy live performance of world-renowned Macedonian ethno musicians. The Canadian-Macedonian community will offer tables of home-prepared traditional cuisine, wines, and much more! From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.


Colonel By Day at Bytown Museum, August 7

The next Colonel By Day takes place on the Civic Holiday Monday, August 7, 2017 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the entrance locks to the Rideau Canal beside the Bytown Museum, just west of the Chateau Laurier. Festivities begin at 11:00 am with an opening procession. Live entertainment will be presented throughout the day, with performances by local musicians, dancers and other costumed characters along with other activities. Admission to the Bytown Museum will be free from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Steinway Summer Recital Series at Steinway Piano Gallery, August 10

This series is being offered to piano students who continue to study over the summer months and wish to have extra performance opportunities prior to their August exam or upcoming competitions. Friday, August 10, 2017 at 6:00 pm.


The Changing of the Guard ceremony at Parliament Hill, until August 25

Attend to this spectacle event of the Changing of the Guard ceremony. At 10:00 a.m. visit the Parliament to learn about the symbolism, history and proceedings of this free ceremony.


Parliament Hill Yoga – Free Yoga Sessions at Parliament Hill, Until August 30

Yoga on Parliament Hill! Almost every week, wednesdays at noon-1pm with local and renowned Canadian yogis. Just bring your mat and your go-to water bottle (and maybe some sunscreen). Rain or shine, we'll be saluting the sun or the cloud that's blocking it. There will be space set aside for bikes.


The Amorous Servant at Strathcona Park, until August 20
