Mamma Mia! At Centrepointe Theatre, Jun 1-10

You’ve definitely heard of this pop classic musical — based on ABBA’s legendary hits, Mamma Mia! takes place on a hot and hilarious Greek island. Sophie is getting married, but who’s going to give her away? Raised by her mother, Sophie’s uncovered three men who could all be her father… how to decide? Performances will be running from June 1-10 at Centrepointe Theatre (Tuesday – Saturday at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm). Tickets are $15.75-$45.75.

The 2018 Happening Festival at Wellington Village, May 25 - Jun 2

The sun’s out, the tulips are up, and that means it’s the start of festival season! The Happening Festival is on from May 25th to June 2nd, and it’s bigger than ever. This year, Wellington Village is combining with Arts Park to make one great big Happening Festival. The festival celebrates the businesses, art, and culture of Wellington West, the area made up of Hintonburg and Wellington. This Friday, check out the opening party that’ll kick off the celebrations. May 26, 27, 31st, and June 1st, drop by events happening all over the neighbourhood, hosted by cool local businesses. On the last day, June 2nd, don’t miss the Happening ArtsPark — from 10am to 11pm enjoy live music, an artisan marketplace, food, craft beer, and fun for kids too!

Miss Shakespeare - a new Canadian Musical at The Gladstone Theatre, May 23- Jun 2 

From May 23rd to June 2nd, you can check out this innovative musical about Shakespeare’s daughter, Judith. Miss Shakespeare tells the story of female creativity and the draw of the theatre. It’s the 1600s and inside The Cage Tavern six women aredrawn together by their love for theatre… from which women are still banned. The story is punctuated with a musical score influenced by underground European Cabaret. The musical is directed by Bronwyn Steinberg, the show features Rachel Eugster, Leah Cogan, Robin Guy, Shawna Pasini, Iyono Ede, Laura Hall, and Natalie Fraser. Tickets are $39 for Adults, $35 for Seniors, and $23 for Students, with shows at both 2:30pm and 7:30pm. 

Trashcan Sinatras - Concert and VIP upgrade at Mavericks, Jun 3

Jump on the Ottawa leg of the epic North American acoustic club tour — famed Scottish pop band, the Trashcan Sinatras, are touring two albums across the continent. They’ve got a catalogue with 30 years of original music, and each show will be jam packed! Frank, John, and Paul will be playing everything from their 1990 album, Cake, and their 1993, I’ve Seen Everything. They’ll be at Mavericks in Ottawa on June 3; doors open at 7, and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets range from $30-$100, with VIP tickets available!

Move Over Mrs. Markham at Ottawa Little Theatre, Jun 6-23

Head to Ottawa Little Theatre between June 6-23 and check out the new hilarious and sexy play you won’t want to miss. Philip Markham is a timid children’s book publisher. He and his wife, Joanna have been married for 15 years and are getting bored. Philip’s business partner, Henry, is a philanderer who plans to borrow Philip’s apartment to do some philandering. Henry’s wife, it turns out, has the same plan. Joanna’s interior decorator has an eye for the housekeeper… when Philip stumbles on all three couples, hilarity ensues. Shows start at 7.30 and 2.30 p.m. A Student ticket is $12, seniors are $24, and adults are $27. 

Versace Night at the Beirut Opera, Jun 7

East-enders — Come one, come all to Peter D. Clark Place for the Craft Beer Festival! From June 7-9, Orleans will be bringing together craft breweries, local food artisans, and awesome music! 

Seniors Pop-up Painting at NAC, until Jun 27 

What better place to paint than in the NAC’s astounding new glass atrium? Pop Up Painting will be at the NAC at 1:30pm on June 27, and the session is free! Just RSVP in advance, since there are only 30 places. Painters of all ages and experience are welcome! Bring your creativity and get colourful!
