Balivernes et Mélivernes at Galerie Montcalm, Jun 15 - August 13

On the occasion of Canada's 150th anniversary, this collective exhibition, at once nostalgic and visionary, presents works inspired by Steampunk/Retrofuturism, a movement that has attracted followers in increasing numbers since the mid-1980s. Drawing its inspiration principally from the period of the industrial revolution, Steampunk is expressed mainly in fashion but also extends to arts and letters. Dive with us into this unfathomable universe where fancy mixes with science and where artists explore regions that once were the exclusive reserve of engineers and mad scientists. Balivernes means "poppycock" and Melivernes is an amalgam of Méliès (Georges) and Verne (Jules). Vernissage on June 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
