 DEMUIR, Mercury Lounge, May 5

Pozativ People Top Shelf Distilleries and Mercury Lounge are extremely proud to present a night of Proper Funky Jackin House Music with special guest DEMUIR and opening sets by local DJ /Producers Jeff Dougler & Balu (Hybrid Live/DJ set), Christian Arno & Lock City Groove. Awarded Traxsource.com's #1 Jacking House Producer of 2015 and 2016, Demuir's eclectic house sound exudes funky, sexy and soulful beats that are consistently recognized and sought by artists and dance music fans around the world. $10 in advance and doors are at 10pm.


Steve Berndt, The Marshes Golf Club, May 5

Steve Berndt sits in again with the incredible Miguel De Armas at his Friday residency at The Marshes Golf Club (320 Terry Fox) for a fun romp through original songs and standards. Rounding out the trio will be bassist/composer Marc Decho! The music starts at 7pm.


The Soul Motivators, Babylon Nightclub, May 5

This Saturday, the Soul Motivators band from Toronto be on the Babylon stage with a MIDNIGHT PERFORMANCE! This Toronto 9-piece ensemble really nails it – with a unique blend of funk, soulful vocals, hip-hop breaks and psychedelic beat. They've got 2 new singles out for 2017 and we are catching them right in the middle of their Ontario-Quebec tour. We are already playing their brand new "It Ain't Fair, But It's Fun" they just released this year. This show promises to be another sweaty Double Barrel affair! $10 at the door and the show begins at 10pm.


Hintonburg Happening, Wellington West, May 5 & 6

Come explore the most happening Ottawa ‘hood this weekend. The HAPPENING celebrates local artists, designers, musicians and businesses on Wellington West from the Somerset Bridge to Island Park over three jam-packed days of creative events at local businesses. Then bring your family and friends to Hintonburg Park, the new home of the Park Party on Saturday, May 6 from 1pm to 10pm. Enjoy live music, interactive art, children's activities, as well as the beer and food gardens.


PoutineFest, Ottawa City Hall, May 5 - 7

Seeing double? PoutineFest is still going on! The 3rd Annual Ottawa PoutineFest "World of Poutine" continues this weekend at Poutine Plaza, Ottawa City Hall. The 2017 special Canada 150 edition will feature the best in Traditional, Exotic and Extreme Poutine, over 100 choices of poutine, face painting, a new poutine eating contest, exotic poutine competition, the most expensive poutine, kids fun zone, rock climbing walk, more live entertainment, a new Artpops Market, craft beer zone, free admission and more. The feast runs Friday to Sunday 11am – 7pm. Ottawa Life's Andre Gagne will be helping judge the best poutine of the festival.


Golden Flame Dance 3rd Annual Gala, 397 Kent Street, May 6

Flame Dance Company is celebrating their 3rd Annual Gala (Dance Fame) which marks the graduation of their students. This is going to be one of the biggest parties of the year. They will have a full range of dance styles presented: Latin, Ballroom, Belly dance, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Afrobeat, Argentine Tango and MORE! The event will open with the music of NAC kids "Orkidstra" performing LIVE. Tickets are $30 and the party starts at 6pm.


Byward Barket, Byward Market, May 7

This Sunday, the Byward Market is going to the dogs! Bring your pets to a day spent shopping, strolling and enjoying bites & beverages on the patio. Participating businesses will have treats and water bowls ready! There will also be “pup” up shopping at numerous vendors and PTSD Service Dogs and many rescue organizations will be present. This is a free community event.


Ottawa Community Choir Meet Up, Bar Robo, May 9

Join Capital City Community Choir at Bar Robo this Tuesday for their monthly meet up where anyone who loves to sing can join the choice to help work on some amazing songs. This month they will be working on ‘Me & Julio Down by the Schoolyard’ by Paul Simon and ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran. $5 cover and the session begins at 7:30pm.


Global Impact Soirée, Canadian Museum of Nature, May 9

The Canadian Council for International Co-operation (CCIC) is pleased to invite you to the Global Impact Soirée, which is a unique opportunity for leaders from the Canadian global cooperation sector, including civil society, government, academia, industry, and the international community, to come together to mark Canada’s leadership on the global stage. Tickets cost $50 and the event features DJ Goldilocks (Climate Action Network), gourmet bites & fancy cocktails. The event starts at 6:30pm.


The Wisdom of Ancient INDIA, Old Town Hall Community, May 10

Come to discover the secret wisdom of ancient India: The Vedas, Avatars, Devas, Asuras. This Wednesday from 7 – 8:30pm at Old Town Hall Community Centre (61 Main Street) learn more about this ancient culture. This even is organized by AGEAC Ottawa (the Geophilosophical Association of Anthropological and Cultural Studies) , a nonprofit organization, whose only objective is to share our research about the Wisdom of Ancient Civilizations so that we can all benefit from this ancient wisdom and live a more meaningful and profound life.


Ottawa Children's Festival, LeBreton Flats, May 10 - 14

Since 1985, the Ottawa Children’s Festival (OCF) has hosted an annual celebration of the best in live performing arts for children ages 2 – 15. Every day you can buy tickets to enjoy crazy acrobatic stunts, playful theatre, unbelievable dance routines, foot tapping/hand clapping music and more! Or take in the Festival grounds before and after performances for a variety of fun and interactive activities.
