If you've always wanted to experience Korea, get ready because this summer The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is bringing a bit of Korea to the National Capital! Running from June through September, the K-Connected festival will consist of a series of cultural events- everything from music, food, comedy shows and more. Here's just a few of the events you don't want to miss.
K-Gastronomy (June 5th – 9th)
K-Gastronomy is an exciting food event jointly hosted by the Korean Cultural Centre Canada and the Sheraton Hotel Ottawa. Featuring celebrity chef Hansong Kim, the event will be a week of delicious buffet lunch meals available to the public, celebrating the very best in Korean cuisine. Ongals Comedy Show (June 16th)
Ongals are a popular Korean comedy troupe known for their hilarious facial expressions, high-energy and hyper antics. Since they specialize in physical comedy, their shows can be enjoyed by everyone, whether you understand Korean or not. They'll be making their Canadian debut with a free show at Shenkman Theatre on June 16. If you're ready to laugh and have a good time, click here to reserve your seat.
Korean Culture Fair (June 25th)
As part of the "Ottawa Invites the World" series of events, celebrating Canada 150, the Korean Culture Fair will take place at the Landsdowne Park Pavilion. Not much details have been released yet, but if it is anything like the other events in the series, there is sure to be tons of Korean food, music, activities and more. A perfect event for the whole family.
K-Pop World Festival (July 22nd)
The K-Pop World Festival will be on again this year! Hosted at the gorgeous Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, this event serves as one of three Canadian preliminaries for the worldwide dance and singing contest. Contestants cover K-pop songs with the winner continuing on to the online semi-finals, with a chance to reach the finals which take place live at a huge outdoor festival in South Korea in September.
