Tom Jackson and Friends Help End Hunger with 2013 Huron Carole Concert Series in Ottawa

Join Canadian actor and musician Tom Jackson and friends for an unforgettable evening of music for a good cause presented by Country 101.1 on Monday, December 2nd at 8:00pm at The Shenkman Centre in Ottawa,. The annual Huron Carole concert series returns this year with its national tour to help raise funds and awareness for Canada’s hungry. The high-quality musical talent includes George Canyon, One More Girl, Beverley Mahood and Shannon Gaye.

Since 1987, Tom Jackson has brought the message to end hunger by cultivating a network of like-minded artists brought together with the common interest of helping Canada’s needy. While under the name of The Huron Carole and Singing for Supper, the concert series has helped spread awareness of the nation’s hunger problems and raised funds to help food bank workers and volunteers accomplish their mission of ending hunger.

“There’s so much work to be done to quell this country’s problem with hunger and it’s hard to believe that in a country such as ours, this is still an ongoing issue.” Jackson says. “It’s a really good feeling to be able to help our brothers and sisters in need to feed their family and themselves, which is such a small and basic thing to ask when you think about it.”

Tickets cost $55 with special VIP tickets for $105 and are available for purchase at the box office, by phone or online. For more information, go to www.shenkmanarts.ca/promo or call 613-580-2700. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 4th.

For over 40 years, Tom Jackson has been entertaining audiences through his acting and music – spreading his message of hope for a brighter future by raising awareness and funds for food banks and charitable organizations. While younger and older generations of TV viewers remember him for his acting as Billy Two Feathers in Shining Time Station and Chief Peter Kenidi in CBC’s North of 60, it is in his first love – singing – that draws him to create change. Jacson can inspire, uplift and entertain 10 or 10,000 and the gifts he shares, he carries from his ancestry, his life and his loves. www.tomjackson.ca
