Happy Holidays with Heppner, Dominion-Chalmers United Church, December 16
It may be last minute, but you still have time to snatch up the last few tickets to see world famous tenor and CBC Radio broadcaster Ben Heppner in concert as part of Happy Holidays with Heppner. You will enjoy an evening of favourite carols and stories also featuring conductor Jean Sébastien Vallée in his debut with the Ottawa Choral Society, star soprano Mireille Asselin, and an ensemble of Ottawa’s finest brass and percussion players. Tickets are still available from the Chamberfest box office but, please note, currently the seats are already full and what remains is standing room only.
The Jörgen Ballet’s Nutcracker, Centrepointe Theatre, December 17
The Nutcracker is back in Ottawa this weekend and this production of the beloved Tchaikovsky ballet was created by acclaimed choreographer Bengt Jörgen. With a 1pm and 4:30pm show at Centrepointe Theater on Saturday, there is still time to get your tickets and take part in a holiday tradition that will delight both young and old.
A Christmas Carol, NAC, December 16 - 31
Speaking of holiday traditions, why not come out and experience the NAC’s English Theater production of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. This classic tale has been given a unique and stylish overhaul with guests featuring some of the NAC’s finest. Opening this week, performances run nightly 7:30pm as well as during a 2pm matinée on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets start at $35. (PS this makes a great Christmas gift!)
Yoga for Climbers, Vertical Reality, December 17
Christmas getting you stressed? This Saturday make your way to rock climbing gym Vertical Reality to check out their unique facilities and participate in a charity yoga class specifically designed for climbers. All levels are welcome, climber or not, and the proceeds raised will go to Freedom Dog Rescue.
Originals Ottawa Christmas Craft Show, EY Centre, December 16 – 20
If you still need to finish your holiday shopping, take the drive to the EY Centre to shop the final days of the Originals Ottawa Christmas Craft Show. This show brings the very best that the Canadian handmade community has to offer to the Nation’s Capital for a magical holiday shopping event. With over 180 talented artists, artisans, and designers for you to browse and shop, you will not leave empty handed. With a myriad of handmade goods, fashion, housewares and fine art, there is truly something for everyone. Tickets are $7 each.
