Strange things occur in the woods of northern Sweden. That’s the media teaser for Swedish movie The Tree Lover set to feature at the Bright Nights: The Baltic-Nordic Film Festival tonight at Library and Archives Canada. The Festival runs from April 19 to April 28, 2012.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981) is a working-class slasher movie, largely set in a leaky mine near Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. The 2009 remake, shot in 3D in Pennsylvania coal-mining country, is far superior to the 1981 original. Check out OLM’s Harvey Chartrand review of both films, just in time for Valentine’s Day!
