Celebrate Family Day in the National Capital

Family Day is right around the corner and what better way to spend it by checking out some events and sights right here in the National Capital? Here are some places and events in the city that the entire family is sure to love and bond over.

Museum Visit

Ottawa is home to many national museums and they will all be open on Family Day! Aside from the regular exhibits, some of the museums are hosting special kids’ activities for the day such as story-telling, demonstrations, crafting and more. Consult the museums’ respective websites for more details about Family Day programming.

Family Day Glow Stick Ball Hockey

All you sporty families won’t want to miss this! The GlowSport Fitness & Events Center is hosting an evening of glow stick ball hockey for Family Day! Participants will get their sticks decorated with glow tape and play ball hockey in the dark, putting a fun twist on the classic sport. This all ages event will also include hot chocolate and pizza! Tickets start at $20 with family packages also available. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite.

Monkey Rock Music CD Release Concert

If you have young children and your family loves music, check out the Monkey Rock Music CD release concert! Monkey Rock Music is an Ottawa-based musical group that specializes in children’s music and they’ll be hosting their CD release party on Family Day at the Brass Monkey. The event will feature the band performing their new tracks live and interacting with the audience. Tickets for the event are $10 each and can be purchased through Eventbrite.

Winterlude Attractions

Family Day marks the last day of Winterlude, so if you haven’t checked out the festivities yet, this is your last chance! There are a variety of family-themed activities and attractions going on at the multiple sites around the city, including the Canal and Confederation Park, such as live music, acrobatic shows, tubing and ice sculptures.
