Cirque du Soleil Is Bringing Back Its Blue-and-Yellow Big Top to Ottawa!

Cirque du Soleil will return to Ottawa with a big top production for the first time since 2008. TOTEM, written and directed by internationally-acclaimed multimedia artist Robert Lepage, opens on July 11, 2013 for a limited engagement through July 28, 2013 under the trademark blue-and-yellow big top next to Scotiabank Place.

TOTEM-QUEBECTOTEM traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Inspired by many founding myths,TOTEM illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species. Somewhere between science and legend, TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential. The intimate and visually stunning production features a cast of 46 acrobats, actors, singers and musicians who perform in an ever-changing scenic environment. Through the magic of video images that were specially shot for the production in various parts of the world, the set of TOTEM becomes a virtual swamp, a river source, a marsh, a lake, an ocean, a volcanic island, a pond and a starry sky.

Since its Montreal World Premiere in April 2010, more than 2 million people have been mesmerized by the TOTEM experience.
