Canadian band Me and Mae have been making waves in the country-rock scene for a few years now and with their recent signing to Detroit-based record label RL Recordings, and a hot new single titled “Where the Good Times Roll,” they’re surely on their way to even bigger success. The group took some time from their busy radio tour schedule to share with us the inspiration behind their latest track and what’s in store for the summer.

Ottawa Life Magazine: Congratulations on the success of your new single “Where the Good Times Roll”! What was the inspiration for the track?

Me and Mae: Thank you! We had done a show in California at the NAMM Trade Tonvention. Riding the wave of that performance, suddenly I started to hear the melodies in my head and shared them with my co-writer, Ben Parker. With California’s palm trees, beautiful beaches and glorious sunsets, we knew we were where the good times roll!

Was the “Where the Good Times Roll” music video as fun to film as it looks? Looked like quite a party!

Definitely! When everyone came together, it took on a life of its own. Everyone had a blast and it came across in the video.

In the five years since the release of your debut album Off The Rails, you’ve kept busy playing various music festivals and opening up for some of the biggest names in country music like Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw. How has that influenced or changed your sound and what can we expect from your next album?

The whole experience of playing all those great shows really inspired us to allow the influence of these great artists to seep into our songwriting and live performance.

You’re currently on a radio tour and then you’re playing at the Calgary Stampede in July – that’s huge! What can fans expect from that show in particular?

We are very excited to be playing an intimate acoustic set that will show a different side of the band’s sound.

“Where the Good Times Roll” is available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music and Google Music and you can check out the music video over on Youtube. For more info about the band and tour dates visit their official website here.
