One’s sense of style is a way to express their thoughts and feelings. Most women desire to be able to find clothing that suits their taste, and body type. Unfortunately, most fashion trends target young, slim women. Many women do not fall under this category, restricting them in finding fashionable clothing that suits their needs. As women age, their options decrease, as most stores cater to younger women. This causes a rift between fashion and age. Luckily, there is a fabulous way to remedy that!

Sid Cratzbarg, an Ottawa-based fragrance stylist, believes fashion transcends age, body types and taste. That’s why he started his own line, Accessories by Sid, that caters to mature women of all physiques.

“I always believe that fashion is for every woman, every size and shape,” says Sid Cratzbarg, founder of the Get Sidified gala. "Shepherd’s is one of the few stores that recognize this."

This year, the annual Get Sidified event will be hosted at Shepherds Fashions located in the Trainyards Shopping Centre. The event will be presented by Manotick’s Natural Market, a store that stocks an impressive array of vitamins, homeopathic remedies, sport supplements, teas, natural bodycare products and diabetic friendly, dairy, gluten free products. The owner, Darpan Ahluwalia, is a well-known, certified nutritionist.

“Many people who have gone to her business have experienced Crohn’s and Colitis. It was a great pairing between the two of us for this particular event,” says Cratzbarg.

Sid Cratzbarg has suffered from the illness for many years, but he did not let it stop him from following his dream of being an instrumental member of the fashion business. With the creation of the Get Sidified gala, the funds received has been and is continuing to be donated to Crohn’s and Colitis.

This year, the event will have select seating for 80 to 90 guests, as it will be held in a shopping centre. Sponsored by Sparks Dental Clinic, OGI Clinic, Educara Montessori Child Care, the event celebrates diversity in fashion while the proceeds are sent to support Crohn's and Colitis, a disease that affects the lives of numerous Canadians. Dr. Boushey, the man who saved Cratzbarg’s life will be one of the sponsors from the OGI Clinic.

The event will be held October 22, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm. From 6pm to 7pm, drinks, alongside hors d'oeuvre and desserts will be served. At 7pm, the show commences and by 7:30pm, women can start shopping until closing.

“I’m known for fashion TV and now, as a fragrance stylist, I believe that fashion is for every woman, every size and shape. So, it’ll be a fun evening, where the models will have the chance to work with an array of stylists to help choose their outfits. Shepherd's has been very kind and are giving a portion of the sale to Crohn's and Colitis,” explains Cratzbarg.

There will be approximately 12 items for auction and 4 raffle items. Those attending will be gifted a Get Sidified wine and an assortment of luxury designer fragrances. As well, a DJ will be present at the event. Tickets will be sold on Eventbrite for $65 dollars a person.
