Outdoors

Oddly, getting outside is one of the best things you can do for yourself if you are feeling anxious. And what is worse is that the act of getting out is one of the hardest things for people to do. The combination of sunlight or even the brightness, the fresh air and moving your body will give you a big boost. Reducing stress levels as you go. You don’t need to get your jogging bottoms and sneakers on though. You can simply walk.

Breathing

When you start to get stressed or feel the anxiety rising in your chest. The quick breath kicks in. You will begin to feel light-headed and a little out of control. Over time, and practised when you aren’t in the middle of an attack, teach yourself how to breathe deeply and slowly over the space of ten minutes. Ideally, you should try to get a breath in over the space of 8 seconds, hold it for 7, and then release it over 4. You can get apps that can help you breathe in a pattern. The more often you do this, the more likely it is when you need to use it, it will feel more natural to you.

Herbs

There is a range of herbs that can help with anxiety. Lemon balm is one that is often used in aromatherapy. It is said that it will help encourage a restful nights sleep and also has the added bonus of being an antioxidant. Valerian root is used to help people who have insomnia and high blood pressure. When used in combination with lemon balm it can help soothe nerves quickly.

Lavender. Smell it, bathe in it, rub it on your pillow. The scent alone will begin to calm your nerves and reduce any tension that you are holding on to. Many people will add lavender to a tea – but you have to make sure you get the edible kind. Chamomile, combined with CBD, can create the perfect relaxing cup of tea. You can find CBD products and oils at budbuddy to add to your tea. It is best you drink this tea first thing in the morning and then one before bed.

Sleep

Of course, sleeping better will help you deal with the things that overwhelm you. However, it can be hard to sleep when you are hoping to sleep. Dr Steve Orma says the more you focus on sleeping, the less likely you will be able to do it. So, get an app that has sleep stories that you can listen to to help you wind down and relax and drift off to sleep.

When it comes to anxiety, work with a doctor if you can, and a mix of natural remedies and see what works for you.
