Nuit Blanche Takes Over Ottawa and Gatineau

Get ready to sleep all day so you can be up all night—The third annual Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau is this Saturday, September 20, from 6:20 p.m. to September 21 at 4:21 a.m.

This one night a year event celebrates local art and culture at its finest. Nuit Blanche aims to deliver a rich and stimulating experience for everyone involved.

For anyone who has not heard of Nuit Blanche, art and culture installations are set up throughout the city for the public to interact with throughout the night. This can include anything from lights to sounds to sculptures and more!

That’s right. Sport your walking shoes and get ready for 10 hours of exploration and fascination. Installations will be set up mainly in the Byward Market, downtown Rideau, Gatineau and Wellington West.

This year’s Nuit Blanche theme is ByPass. The organizers of the event believe they have been able to bypass many typical systems of creativity by trying unconventional routes. ByPass also represents the artists’ ability to develop original work and build towards new horizons.

This event is family friendly and is absolutely free. Stroll around with the kids for a couple hours Saturday night or get ready to be a night-hawk. Either way this event is sure to please your senses and remind you of the amazing talent and the creative culture we are lucky to have in Canada’s Capital Region.
