Spread Some Good this New Year With FlipGive

Just because it’s January doesn’t mean the giving season has to end. Why not give two gifts, with one card?

unnamedFlipGive is a Canadian company founded in 2008 connecting shoppers and local fundraisers with major online retailers. The website raises money for community-based causes through gift card purchases. For each sale made, a percentage of the total amount is donated to the buyers selected cause.

Anyone in Canada and the United States can register their fundraiser online free of charge. The most common users include schools, sport teams and music groups.

Company’s featured on FlipGive, such as Starbucks, Lowe’s, Costco, ALDO and Indigo, donate up to 50 per cent of the sale price to the chosen fundraiser. This donation is at no additional cost to the supporter. For example, if you buy a $30 gift card from Aldo, not only will you receive a $30 gift card, but Aldo will also donate $15 to your selected cause.

“The early results have been more than impressive,” explained Steve Croth, CEO and Founder of FlipGive. “Since rolling out the FlipGive platform, more than 11,000 campaigns have run or are in market and over $2.2 million has been raised for community initiatives.”

FlipGive1One of the most successful projects on the website was a fundraiser for the Whitby Wildcats Minor Atom hockey team earlier this year. They raised money to help offset parent costs for tournament fees, travel, ice time and team events to ensure all kids could develop as players. Within two months the campaign made $2,053.

FlipGive makes it easy for family and friends to participate in fundraising activities throughout the year, especially around the holiday season. Purchasing gift cards through the website allows a single present to have multiple rewards.
