Time to ‘Be in the Park’ again
It’s that time of year again, when the air is filled with the sounds of bagpipes and drums, when those who hail from Scotland, and those whose families have been here for generations, celebrate all things Scottish at the Glengarry Highland Games. The Games start on Friday, but to get things in gear, the Sons of Scotland Pipe Band is throwing a party at Major’s Hill Park on Thursday, August 1.
The 16th annual ‘B in the Park’ event kicks off at 6:30pm and runs until 8:30pm. The sounds of pipes and drums will fill the air, brought to you by the Sons of Scotland, and Winnipeg’s St. Andrew’s Pipe Band, while the Katharine Robinson Highland Dancers will also be on hand to perform traditional highland dancing.
A beer and whisky garden will be on site, so make sure you stop by to sample some true Scottish libations (as long as you are of legal age, of course). There will also be a food truck, and an ice cream vendor on hand, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Admission to Major’s Hill and B in the Park is free, however if you want to try to win the door prize of a $500 Via Rail voucher, tickets will be $10.
The Sons of Scotland Pipe Band is always a good show, and this event will be no exception. Bring the whole family, in kilts or not, and enjoy the fun!
