Johnny Vegas Announces Big Band Show

I’m sending this out to let you know about a fantastic show I’m putting together as part of The Gladstone Theatre’s One Night Only series this summer. The July 20 show features The Johnny Vegas All-Star Band with very special guests The Stan Clark Orchestra.

The night kicks off with The Johnny Vegas All-Star Band at 7:30pm and we’ll be performing a wide variety of music made famous a long time ago in the 20th century. Joining me on vocals is our singer and percussionist Beki Lantos. The All-Star Band features Marty Newman on bass, Peter Beaudoin on drums, Eddie Bimm on piano & keyboards and Gino Scaffidi on electric guitar. We’ll also be inviting some of the Stan Clark horns up for a few songs.

When we break for a 30-minute intermission at around 8:45pm, there will be bar service in the lobby while back on stage, The Stan Clark Orchestra will be setting up for the second half of the show.

The Stan Clark Orchestra has been gigging around Ottawa for the past 10 years and is one of the true big bands in the city with a full complement of 17 musicians. It is an absolute thrill to sing in front of this awesome-sounding band. For this part of the show, I’ll sing original arrangements of Frank Sinatra favorites like I’ve Got You Under My Skin and New York, New York as well as a few other Big Band Greats.

This is a rare gig for me as I don’t often perform in public on weekends and I almost never play in a theatre. This will be my very first time singing with two completely different bands on the same show. If you only see one Johnny Vegas performance this year, this is the one you want to be at!
