Hailing from the Algonquin territory of Kitigan Zibi, Rabbit Stew is a four-piece rock ensemble whose sound tips its hat to the swagger of The Rolling Stones, the soulful punch of Nathaniel Rateliff, the Canadian spirit of The Tragically Hip, and the smoky groove of The Doors.

Formed in 2023, the band landed naturally with a friend’s jamming turning into something electric, and soon enough, they were being called “Kitigan Zibi’s most rocking band.” The band brings feel-good rock & roll with a twist: Indigenous heart, raconteur lyrics, stomp-along rhythms, and a head-bob-foot-tap energy that leaves audiences wanting more.

Since their launch, Rabbit Stew have brought their sound from Kitigan Zibi out into the wider region, earning praise for their live presence: a reviewer described one set as “raw, honest and full of fire—music you feel in your bones and smile at with your soul.” Others have said: “You ain’t seen a make you feel good live band till you’ve seen Rabbit Stew.”

In recognition of their role as Indigenous creators, the band have been honoured by becoming part of the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund Artist Ambassadors program—linking them into a broader movement of reconciliation, creativity and cultural resurgence.

With plans to head into the studio to record their debut EP, Rabbit Stew are positioning themselves not just as a band, but also as a voice: rooted in place, loud in purpose, and ready to turn the amps up for Indigenous rock and roll!
