Corazón De Maíz (55 ByWard Market Square)

This spot is nestled in the heart of the city inside the ByWard Market Square and has been a community favourite for years. The friendly atmosphere and delicious dishes really make you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a cantina in a little Mexican neighbourhood. Everything on the menu is top notch, but we especially love their burritos and wide array of housemade hot sauces.

Won Ton House (1300 Wellington St. W.)

This family-owned Chinese spot on Wellington Street West has been in operation since 1975. The restaurant is considered home and customers are part of the family, naturally leading to stand-out service and top-notch food. All dishes are cooked to order in the traditional Szechuan style and new menu items are added regularly. We recommend the Special Won Ton Soup that includes succulent pork strips, whole shrimp, and to-die-for, plump wonton dumplings.

Giovanni’s Restaurant (362 Preston St.)

Giovanni’s has been operating for more than 30 years. Founders Lisa and Guiseppe wanted to bring their love of Italy to Ottawa and did they ever succeed. Authentic Italian dishes made with fresh veggies, seafood and the highest of quality meats are topped off with quality service that makes you feel like part of the family.

Blue Nile Ethiopian (707 Gladstone Ave.)

Blue Nile Ethiopian is a quaint, little spot that puts the focus on big, homestyle flavours. You’ll find all the traditional Ethiopian dishes you can imagine like sambusa and every type of wot you can imagine. There are just as many vegetarian options as there are meat options, so it is great for all to enjoy. All platters are served in a laid back, traditional style, with enjera bread which you use to scoop up your food instead of utensils.

C'est Japon À Suisha (208 Slater St.)

When it comes to high-class Japanese food in Ottawa, it doesn’t get any better than C'est Japon À Suisha. The eatery has called its spot on Slater home for over 40 years and, with its private room option, is the perfect setting for a romantic date or intimate get together. From their top notch sushi to their bubbling hot and flavourful shabu shabu, this place is a must-try for everyone in the city.

Mamma Teresa Ristorante (300 Somerset St. W.)

Mamma Teresa is another great spot if you’re craving a taste of Italy right in your own backyard. Owned by the Boselli family, natives of Parma, Italy who immigrated to the National Capital region in the 1960s, they know exactly what they’re doing. From antipasti like prosciutto and pears and to fresh pasta dishes like cannelloni and ravioli, everything is top notch.

Lil’ Negril Island Grill (261 Centrepointe Dr.)

Experience the vibrant flavours of the Carribean at Lil’ Negril! This joint serves up all the very best of Jamaican classics like jerk chicken, codfish fritters and curried goat. Vegetarian? No worries – they have you covered with their mango salad, veggie roti, rice and peas and more. It’s also a great spot to grab a cold, island drink like a Red Stripe beer or Ting soda.

Pilos Restaurant (876 Montreal Rd.)

Located on Montreal Road in the city’s east end, Pilos is as authentic Greek as it gets. Family owned, they have won various awards over the years including a whopping seven Consumer’s Choice Awards. The service is just as high quality as the food and there are dinner and lunch specials. Their chicken souvlaki is a must try.

Thai Flame (1902 Robertson Rd., Unit #104)

This casual Thai joint, unassumingly located in a strip mall in Bells Corners in what was once a tanning salon, is quaint and delicious. With noodles, curries, seafood, salads, stir-fries, plus a great dessert menu, there’s something for every taste. It’s also one of the only places in the city where you can find pla sam rot – traditional Thai three-flavoured fish served whole. That alone makes it worth the trip.

Roast N’ Curries (197 Bank St.)

Roast N’ Curries is your go-to spot for delicious Indian comfort food. With an extensive menu ranging from samosa to tandoori shrimp, this spot will cure any of your cravings. Don’t feel like going to the restaurant? Don’t fret – order your meal straight to your door through Doordash or Skip the Dishes! We recommend the butter chicken platter which is unique as they use cashews and almonds in their butter sauce which makes it extra rich and flavourful.
