Celebrate over 60 regional artists at the annual silent auction and cocktail party, LE PARTY, hosted by the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG), on May 30th, 2019. Attracting hundreds of guests who have a taste for local art and cuisine, LE PARTY includes food and drink samples provided by the city’s best cuisine.
LE PARTY, the OAG’s signature fundraising event for over 20 years, raises funds that allows the them to offer free educational programs, tours, events and free admission to the Gallery every day. LE PARTY showcases the art of established and emerging artists, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photography. Nearly 1,160 artworks have been donated to the art auction over the past years.
The event features the Buy it Now program which offers guests the opportunity to end bidding and immediately purchase any work on auction, at market value. Last year, nearly 20% of works sold were purchased through Buy It Now. Prices will vary from $100 – $12,000.
“LE PARTY, OAG’s annual art auction, returning to its early summer spot on the social calendar, is always a great event to mingle and purchase some artwork from some of the most important artists from the region. Not only do patrons support professional artists but there contributions help to keep OAG free and accessible for everyone!” says Ottawa Art Gallery Director and CEO, Alexandra Badzak.
New this year, LE PARTY will give 50% of the revenues back to the artists, a higher return, and an after party for novice art collectors. As well, two types of tickets will be for sale. The Art Lover ticket for early access to the art acquiring and special reception (starting at 5:30 pm) and the Individual tickets for the cocktail party and auction at 7 pm.
Over $1 million has been raised by LE PARTY throughout the past years. This year’s title sponsors are Downtown Rideau BIA and Le Germain Hotels.
LE PARTY features jewellers such as Andrea Mueller, Fran Miles and Chayle Cook. as well as painters, Dominic Laporte, Eliane Saheurs and Margaret Chwialkowska. Many more art forms will be present at the silent auction for bidding.
