With over ten thousand different varieties, Thailand is known for cultivating and exporting, millions of tons of rice per year. Rice agriculture is ingrained in Thailand’s deep and impressive history and continues to be a significant commodity today. While Thai Hom Mali is an essential export and a staple in many Canadians’ diets, few know the origins of the iconic grain. Most commonly referred to as Jasmine rice, the rice earns its name from its stark white colour resembling the delicate Jasmine flower.

Thai Hom Mali Rice or “Thai Jasmine rice” gained international recognition for its appearance, high quality and distinct aroma of exotic flowers and buttered popcorn. Thai Hom Mali is also known for its nutritional properties including being a source of vitamin B1, B2, Niacin and minerals such as Iron, Calcium, and Phosphorus.

The Government of Thailand has certified Thai Hom Mali rice for years using its official seal to ensure the rice's authenticity and that it is of the highest quality.

Thai Hom Mali’s aromatic scent, soft texture and floral flavour are an appealing addition to an endless variety of meals. These characteristics have made the rice appetizing in dishes not only in South East Asia but cuisines across the globe.

Steamed Thai Jasmine rice makes an exceptional base for hearty soups and stir-frys or paired with fried, roasted and grilled proteins. Pre-prepared Thai Hom Mali rice can also be used as a wonderful base for fried rice dishes.

For perfectly cooked Thai Hom Mali, rinse the rice thoroughly and add 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water to a pot, rice cooker or pressure cooker and cook to the desired texture.
