OURbody’s Ottawa Founder Is Transforming Hormonal Health for Women
With a mission rooted in science, empathy, and personal experience, Chelsea Jambo’s new wellness brand is reframing the conversation around women’s hormonal health—one blend at a time.
OURbody didn’t begin with a business plan—it began with frustration, exhaustion, and a hope for something better. Like so many women, Ottawa-based founder Chelsea Jambo spent years navigating painful periods, hormonal mood swings, and so-called “solutions” that often felt just as bitter going down as the symptoms they aimed to treat. What she craved was support that was clean, effective, and enjoyable—and when she couldn’t find it, she decided to create it.
Launching October 7, 2025, OURbody is a women-founded wellness brand changing the way we think about hormone health. The line debuts with four organic tea blends crafted for every phase of a woman’s hormonal journey: menstruation, perimenopause, menopause, and the often-overlooked transition off hormonal birth control. Locally blended in Ontario with organic, non-GMO herbs and no bitter aftertaste, each tea is designed to support both body and palate—because wellness shouldn’t taste like punishment.
OURbody is more than just tea—it’s a call for community care, hormonal education, and radical self-kindness. With names like Solace, Balance, Harmony, and Shift, these blends reflect not just what’s in the cup, but the deeper intention behind the brand: to make women feel seen, supported, and genuinely well.
Ottawa Life Magazine sat down with Chelsea to talk about the story behind OURbody, the science in the blends, and what it means to build a wellness brand that prioritizes honesty, impact, and a little joy in every sip.
OLM: OURbody was born from your personal experience navigating hormonal health. Can you share the moment when frustration turned into action, and the idea for this brand truly began to take shape?
Chelsea: For over a year and a half, OURbody was a quiet, personal project born out of the frustration of dealing with debilitating period pain while still expected to perform at full capacity in a demanding corporate environment. I was tired of feeling like I had to push through my cycle with painkillers and heating pads, just to show up to meetings and present like everything was fine. It felt like there had to be a better way to support my body and that search led me to herbalism, and to Solace, the very first formulation in OURbody’s line of hormone-supporting teas.
But the moment this passion project turned into something bigger, a true mission, was during a doctor’s appointment I’ll never forget. At the time, my grandmother was battling stage 4 breast cancer, and my mom had just found a lump in her breast. While it thankfully turned out to be a benign cyst, I was overwhelmed with worry. I booked an appointment seeking peace of mind: genetic testing, maybe even a basic screening to understand my own risks.
Instead, I was dismissed. The doctor didn’t perform a breast exam. He didn’t ask questions. He simply looked at my age 24 at the time and told me I was too young to worry about cancer. When I asked about genetic testing, he refused, saying he wouldn’t “put his name on that.” I left that appointment feeling unheard, unseen, and infuriated.
That experience became my turning point. I remember thinking: I will never again let a man or let a health care system decide what’s worthy of concern when it comes to my body. I wasn’t just frustrated. I was galvanized.
That’s when OURbody stopped being a personal project and started becoming a movement. I realized that if I was facing this level of dismissal in my health journey, countless other women were too. We deserve solutions created by people who understand us, who listen, who care, who are women themselves.
OURbody was never just about tea. It’s about building something for us, by us. A brand rooted in transparency, community, and real solutions. I didn’t set out to sell a product. I set out to create something I needed, and something I knew millions of other women needed too: support that actually supports.
OLM: Each tea blend supports a different phase of a woman’s hormonal journey. How did you decide on those stages, and how does flavour play into both comfort and functionality in your blends?
Chelsea: When I first began building OURbody, I only had one tea in mind: Solace, our menstrual support blend. I had joined a women’s entrepreneurship program and was working closely with my mentor, Jo-Ann McArthur, the President of Nourish Food Marketing. She encouraged me to think bigger to consider not just one moment in a woman’s cycle, but her entire hormonal journey.
That advice became the turning point for OURbody’s product line. I started looking at the bigger picture: hormonal health doesn’t begin and end with periods. It’s a lifelong journey, from the first cycle to the last hot flash and everything in between. And I realized that if OURbody was going to be a brand women could trust, we needed to be there for every chapter, not just one.
That’s how I landed on four core blends: Shift, Balance, Solace, and Harmony.
Each tea was designed with the intention of walking with women through change, supporting them not only where they are now but where they’re going next. OURbody isn’t just about the present moment, it’s a commitment to long-term support.
As for taste, it was non-negotiable for me. So many functional teas are bitter, chalky, or feel like something you must suffer through to feel better. I didn’t want that. I wanted our blends to be something you look forward to, a daily ritual you enjoy. That meant carefully balancing functional herbs with comforting ingredients like chamomile, apple pieces, or cinnamon. Something that feels indulgent while still doing something good for your body. Because support should not taste like punishment. It should feel like care.
OLM: You have described OURbody as rooted in “radical self-kindness.” What does that mean to you, especially in a culture that often stigmatizes women’s bodies?
Chelsea: To me, radical self-kindness is a personal rebellion against the noise, the constant criticism, expectations, and impossible standards that society places on women. From an early age, we are taught how we should look, act, and even feel. That conditioning doesn’t just live outside of us it finds its way into our self-talk, too.
Radical self-kindness is about breaking that cycle. It’s saying, unapologetically: this is what it’s like to be a woman. And sometimes, it’s messy. Sometimes it’s painful. But it’s also powerful, and it deserves tenderness, not shame.
When I say “radical,” I mean choosing kindness toward yourself even when it feels unnatural or uncomfortable. Even when the world tells you not to. It’s looking in the mirror and giving yourself grace for everything you’ve carried, endured, and overcome. It’s owning your truth, your body, your journey, your worth and refusing to let anyone dim your light.
OURbody is based on the idea that being a woman does not require correction or suppression. It’s something to honour with softness, with strength, and with kindness that runs deep.
OLM: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced sourcing clean ingredients and producing everything locally in Ontario—and why was that so important to you?
Chelsea: When I began sourcing ingredients, I genuinely thought it would be a simple process clean, organic herbs felt like a given. But I quickly realized how naive that assumption was. Not every supplier offers certified organic ingredients, and even fewer can back that up with proper traceability. For me, both of those things were non-negotiable. I wanted to know exactly where each ingredient came from not just for my peace of mind, but for the trust and safety of the women who will be drinking OURbody teas.
Finding a certified organic supplier was one hurdle. Finding one who could also fulfil the quantities I needed? That became an even bigger challenge. For example, chamomile, a staple herb in our Solace blend, is in surprisingly high demand and often out of stock in large quantities. It became clear that sourcing quality herbs at scale wasn’t going to be easy.
Another critical piece was traceability. I wanted to know where every single ingredient came from down to the country of origin so I could feel confident in what I was offering to our community. Clean, certified, and traceable herbs significantly narrowed my search, especially when I added one more requirement: I wanted to work with a local supplier in Ontario.
That brought its own set of challenges. Most of the search results I encountered were dominated by American suppliers, even when I specifically looked for Canadian options. I had to dig deep, cross-check addresses, and investigate every supplier I came across. It was a time-consuming, meticulous process.
Eventually, I was fortunate enough to find a supplier right here in Ottawa who checked every single box: certified organic, clean ingredients, traceable sourcing, and the capacity to fulfil large orders. Even better, they have an in-house team of herbalists and sommeliers who reviewed my formulations, provided expert feedback, and ensured everything was safe and effective. That level of collaboration and validation brought me an incredible sense of reassurance.
Working with a local supplier also gives me the peace of mind that I can walk into their facility, check on production, and build a direct relationship. Yes, sourcing locally comes at a higher cost, but the value of transparency, quality, and trust is worth every penny. I’m incredibly grateful to have found a partner that aligns so closely with OURbody’s values and commitment to women’s health.
OLM: Looking beyond launch day, what is your vision for OURbody in the next year or two? Could we see new blends, events, or other wellness offerings down the line?
Chelsea: Absolutely. OURbody is founded on our core hormonal tea blends, but this is only the start. We’ve already received valuable feedback from our community requests for fruitier blends, post-menopause support, and even teas that address different aspects of womanhood beyond hormones. So, product expansion is certainly on the horizon.
But more than new blends, I envision OURbody evolving into a holistic wellness platform. I would love to open a wellness studio that doubles as a storefront and community hub offering cooking classes led by nutritionists, grounded in the idea that food should be nourishing, approachable, and even fun. There’s so much noise around nutrition, and I want to simplify that. Healing your body through food should not require being a chef, it should be accessible to every woman.
Beyond that, I dream of building out our community impact through wellness events, pop-ups, and global retreats. Even before our official launch, we’ve already secured in-kind sponsorships and community partnerships, and I want to carry that forward. I believe deeply in staying connected with the everyday woman and meeting her where she is. Over the next few years, I see OURbody growing into a movement rooted in nutrition, community, and radical self-kindness with products and programs created not just for women, but with them.
As OURbody gets set to launch this October, the brand isn’t just entering the wellness market—it is stepping into an often-overlooked conversation about hormonal health. For founder Chelsea Jambo, this isn’t just about tea; it’s about challenging outdated narratives and offering women support that feels both grounded and genuine. With carefully formulated blends and a mission shaped by personal experience, OURbody brings a fresh, much-needed perspective to women’s wellness—one that respects the science and honours the lived reality.
