Honouring Canada’s Mounties: The 2025 National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation Gala Comes to Ottawa
This fall, Ottawa will host one of Canada’s most meaningful events dedicated to celebrating the men and women behind the iconic red serge: the 2025 National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation Gala. As the nation’s capital welcomes this distinguished gathering, the gala promises an evening that not only honours the proud legacy of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) but also raises vital support for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and their families.
What is the NPF Benevolent Foundation Gala?
The National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation Gala is more than a formal affair—it’s a heartfelt tribute to RCMP officers and their families. The NPF Benevolent Foundation provides immediate support to the families of Fallen on-duty, off-duty, and serving NPF Members. Gaining charitable status in March 2021, the Foundation provides financial assistance and manages public and Member donations to help support these families during the most difficult times. The Foundation also provides educational bursaries to Member families and those entering public safety careers.

In 2025, funds raised will directly support the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to assist families of Fallen Members, bursary programs, and charitable initiatives across the country. The foundation is also working to expand its mandate to include broader support for Member families through new partnerships and programming. While this is still evolving, the generosity of sponsors and supporters will empower the Foundation to continue making a meaningful impact—now and into the future.
Why the red serge matters
Few symbols are as deeply woven into Canada’s identity as the RCMP’s red serge uniform. Instantly recognizable, it carries a legacy dating back to 1873, when Canada’s national police service was first established as the Northwest Mounted Police. The red serge represents honour, service, and commitment to community—values that continue to guide the RCMP today.
What to expect at the 2025 gala
The evening will feature:
The event raises a glass to the exceptional Members of the RCMP and their families, and pays respect to, and honours those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in dedication to their service to Canadians.
• Inspirational speaker sharing personal stories from RCMP members, families, and leaders.
• Opportunities to bid on and purchase high-demand and unique items as part of fundraising supporting Foundation programs
Adding to the excitement, two Members of the RCMP Musical Ride will greet guests with their horses at the Westin’s main entrance from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Positioned adjacent to Colonel By Drive, this striking visual welcome is expected to be a major attraction and generate significant public interest.

The NPF black-tie gala is sure to be one of Ottawa’s premier events of the year, featuring stunning design and décor, gourmet food and drinks, and live entertainment from local talent Zachary Martin and the Jeff Rogers Band. Invited guests include senior RCMP leadership, federal and provincial ministers, community and business leaders, and of course, RCMP members. The theme of the gala centers on storytelling, inspired by powerful, curated Member narratives featured on the National Police Federation website at https://npf-fpn.com/. Through these stories, the NPF aims to honour and celebrate the profound sacrifices made by its Members in service to their communities and to Canada—their humanity, their courage, and the unwavering strength of their families.
More than just policing
The NPFBF Gala will also shine a light on the often unseen sacrifices police officers make. Policing is not just a profession—it’s a demanding commitment to service that takes a toll physically, mentally, and emotionally. This year’s gala will also spotlight mental health challenges within the RCMP, a topic of growing importance in recent years.
Why Ottawa?
Hosting the gala in Ottawa places it at the heart of Canada’s political and cultural landscape. It provides a unique opportunity for policymakers, community leaders, and citizens to come together in appreciation of the RCMP’s vital role in Canadian life. It underscores the critical importance of supporting Members, the work they do, the sacrifices they make, and the humanity behind their badge.
Looking ahead
As the RCMP continues to evolve in response to modern challenges—from emerging technologies to shifting societal needs—the NPF Benevolent Foundation Gala is a reminder that the human side of policing must remain front and center. The gala is a chance to honour that spirit—recognizing not just the uniform, but the individuals who wear it.
The NPF Benevolent Foundation has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $175,000. For Ottawa and all Canadians, the 2025 NPFBF Gala is a call to come together—to celebrate, to support, and to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the men and women who wear the serge.
