Elvis Stojko Returns to Ottawa for Stars on Ice—and Keeps Giving Back Off the Rink
Elvis Stojko is a busy man. Best known for his figure-skating, Elvis has also achieved at a very high level in the world of motorsports and acting. He and his wife, Gladys Orozco, even find time to oversee a volunteer-run, non-profit pet food bank that distributes donated pet food supplies to animal shelters, rescues and foster parents across Ontario. Appropriately enough, the non-profit is called the Kibble Project.
Of course, the first place to start an interview with Stojko has to be with figure skating. The multiple world champion and Olympic medallist is still very active in the sport. “My life with figure-skating tends to follow a pattern,” said Stojko.
“January through April, my wife and I are doing a lot of seminars and carnival shows with skate clubs across the country. April and May are for Stars on Ice. It is always fun to get out there and perform in front of large crowds. In the summertime, my wife and I participate in a skating show at the CNE fair (Canadian National Exhibition). Gladys is a highly ranked figure skater as well, having competed for the Mexican national team in various capacities. It is fun to be part of the same show as her.”
“In the winter, I usually go on tour with Stars on Ice for their holiday show in December.”
Stokjo is just as serious about motorsports as he is about skating. “My passion for racing started at a young age,” said Stojko.
“I used to watch a neighbour racing dirtbikes. My parents gave me my first dirtbike on my seventh birthday.”
“I have a love of all things motorsports, including working on my own vehicles.”
“I race prototype vehicles at race tracks all over North America. Once I am done with skating, I hope to devote even more of my time to racing.”
A man of many talents, Stojko is also an actor. “I was recently in the Netflix series, Finding Her Edge,” mentioned Stojko. “The series proved to be very popular, especially in Canada. The series was picked up for a second season, which was great news.”

Ottawa fans will have a chance to catch Stojko on April 26 at 4:00 pm at Canadian Tire Centre. The Stars on Ice event will also feature other accomplished figure skaters, including recent Olympic Bronze medallists and five-time Canadian Dance Champions, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier. Four-time world champion, Kurt Browning, returns as Director of Choreography.
