2022 Irish Film Festival Ottawa

The Irish Film Festival Ottawa is back. The 2022 festival includes the in-person screening of five films at the Arts Court Theatre, and seven films are available virtually via the Irish Film Institute International service.

Head to the NAC for the sweet sounds of Saratoga. Duo Chantal Archambault and Michel-Olivier Gasse’s first full-length album Fleur was released in 2016 and earned them two ADISQ nominations—the Quebec equivalent of a Juno—followed by the 2018 release of Ceci est une espèce aimée.

Bobby Knauff

Thunder Bay native and Ottawa resident Bobby Knauff has performed on The Fresh Meat Showcase at Second City, NXNE Music & Comedy Fest, JFL42, was a semi-finalist in SiriusXM Canada’s Next Top Comic (2013), won the 2012 Toronto Comedy Brawl, has had numerous appearances on Much Music, MTV Canada, and has toured across Canada headlining with Yuk Yuks!

Owls Rendez-Vous

Come face-to-face with live owls at this outdoor exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Created in partnership with Little Rays, meet Max, a Great Horned Owl, a Eurasian Eagle-Owl named Khaleesi, and Snowy Owls Oberon and Luna. Owls Rendez-Vous is included with the regular price of museum admission.

The OAG is a gem of a museum that is accessible to everyone. Tucked behind the Rideau Centre, head to the OAG for quiet contemplation. Take in the superb Firestone Collection of Canadian Art or visit one of the temporary exhibitions. Pop in anytime; pre-registration is no longer required.

105th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge

When: April 9, 2022
Where: Canadian War Museum, 1 Vimy Place

April 9, 1917, was the bloodiest day in Canadian military history. During the Battle of Vimy Ridge, 3,598 Canadians lost their lives while 7,000 were wounded. Head to the Canadian War Museum to commemorate the day. Take in the special exhibit, A Community at War–The Military Service of Black Canadians of the Niagara Region that runs until May 8, Forever Changed, until September 5th, or make a day of it and visit all of the museum’s galleries and exhibitions.

If you can’t make it to the museum in-person, the Vimy Foundation has collaborated with the CMA on Vimy: A Living Memorial, launching on April 9th. The digital experience describes the Battle of Vimy Ridge through human stories, artifacts, and geolocation. In addition, there is an online exhibition about the First World War.
