From West to East: A Roadtrip Through Eastern Europe
As most Ottawa residents are preparing for a warm summer, those who are less a fan of the heat may already be dreaming about their next winter getaway. If this is you- look no further than a roadtrip through Europe.
We began our journey in Vienna, Austria, known for music, coffee shops, and pristine white buildings which sing their own unique tune of the city. This was followed by a day trip to Bratislava to explore its old town alongside its communist roots.
Our next stop was Budapest which blew us away with its architecture, history, and food. Similarly, Zagreb had much to offer with its quaint, calm streets and adorable boutiques. One of the highlights of the road trip was Slovenia. From the architecture of Ljubljana to the scenery of Bled, Slovenia is, without a doubt, one of Europe’s hidden gems. Our last stop in Northern Italy was in Bolzano, the home of many Germanic and Italian influences with plenty of mountain valleys to explore.
This two-week road trip never extended more than three hours drive between each location and was the perfect gateway to the history, culture, and beauty that contribute to Europe’s reputation as a dream vacation.
