Carleton Place Spring Fine Art Exhibition Returns with 54 Artists and Indigenous Showcase

The Arts Carleton Place Spring Fine Art Exhibition & Sale returns May 2–3 at the Upper Hall of the Carleton Place Arena, bringing together some of the region’s most accomplished artists. Known for its curated approach and approachable scale, the exhibition offers visitors a chance to explore quality art without the overwhelm of larger fairs. Admission and parking are free, and door prizes add a little extra fun for attendees.

This year’s show features 54 artists across painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more, including six artists exhibiting in Carleton Place for the first time. The combination of familiar and new voices ensures the exhibition stays fresh while maintaining the high standards returning visitors have come to expect.

Colleen Gray Brings a Cosmic Perspective to the Exhibition

One of the highlights of this year’s show is Indigenous artist Colleen Gray, founder of Art for Aid. Her new collection, The Great Return – Terra Incognita, was inspired by the view of Earth from above — a perspective that encourages reflection on our relationship with the planet. Gray’s pieces combine bold visual impact with a thoughtful narrative, creating work that draws viewers in both emotionally and intellectually.

Gray’s contributions extend beyond the gallery: in 2019, she was awarded the Governor General’s Sovereign Medal for Volunteers for her humanitarian work. Her presence at the exhibition connects artistry with social purpose, adding depth and meaning to the event.

A Showcase of Regional Creativity

The exhibition spans a broad range of styles and media, reflecting the diversity of the region’s creative community. Visitors can expect to see traditional painting and sculpture alongside contemporary mixed-media and experimental work. Whether you’re a collector or a casual art enthusiast, the show offers something for every eye.

The addition of six new artists this year introduces fresh perspectives and energy, ensuring that even regular attendees encounter something unexpected. Each piece has been carefully juried for originality, technical skill, and artistic voice, creating a cohesive yet varied experience throughout the Upper Hall.

Community and Accessibility

Arts Carleton Place has built a reputation for keeping the exhibition accessible and welcoming. The layout makes it easy to spend time with the art, and free admission and parking remove barriers for visitors. Door prizes, along with the approachable setting, encourage first-time visitors to engage with the work in a low-pressure environment.

Proceeds from the exhibition support Arts Carleton Place’s community engagement initiatives, helping fund programs that foster creativity across the region. The Town of Carleton Place continues to provide strong support through its Community Enrichment Program, underscoring the show’s importance as a cultural hub.

Why It Matters

The Spring Fine Art Exhibition & Sale is more than a display of talent — it’s a reflection of the region’s commitment to nurturing and celebrating creativity. By combining established artists, new voices, and community engagement, Arts Carleton Place offers both inspiration and opportunity for anyone interested in art, culture, and connection.
