Endy Opens Its First Ottawa Store as the Canadian Sleep Brand Finds a Home in the Capital
Endy is one of those Canadian brands that has quietly woven itself into everyday conversations. Someone mentions the mattress that arrived neatly compressed in a box. Another talks about finally finding pillows that work. The 365-night trial comes up often, usually with a mix of surprise and appreciation. Over the past decade, the company has built a national following by simplifying a product category that was once anything but simple.
Ottawa has become an especially strong part of that story. Endy’s internal data shows that customers in the capital are among the most engaged in the country, returning to the brand for mattresses, bedding and furniture. The opening of Endy’s first Ottawa retail store on September 18 reflects that connection. The new location gives local shoppers a chance to experience the products in-person. It also acknowledges a reality of modern retail: while many Canadians enjoy the ease of ordering from home, others still value the reassurance of seeing and testing items before bringing them into their space. For Endy the move isn’t experimental — it’s a response to sustained demand and a chance to deepen the brand’s footprint in a city that already behaves like one of its core hubs. As Jason Cassidy, President of Endy, puts it:
“Ottawa has been a top five market for Endy for a long time, so opening our first store here felt like a natural next step. As the nation’s capital, it’s also a particularly meaningful place for us to grow our retail presence as a Canadian brand with mattresses made right here in Canada. We already have a highly engaged customer base in the city, and this store gives them a way to experience Endy in person, while introducing the brand to new customers in the community.”
Endy’s story began in 2015 with a single mattress and a straightforward promise. A product designed in Canada, delivered to your door, backed by a trial long enough to make the decision feel easy. The model disrupted traditional mattress retail and helped Endy grow into one of the country’s most recognizable home and lifestyle brands. Over time, the company expanded its offerings to include pillows, sheets, bed frames and furniture, all built around the same minimalist philosophy.
Ottawa’s demographics make it a natural fit for the brand’s evolution. The city’s mix of young professionals, families and long‑time homeowners has created strong demand for home goods that balance practicality with comfort. Endy’s products have found their way into condos in Centretown, townhomes in Barrhaven and older houses in the Glebe. The new store gives these customers a chance to experience the brand in a more tactile way, something that is difficult to replicate online.
Cassidy says that “when Endy launched, we made a deliberate choice to focus on one well-designed mattress and get the fundamentals of comfort, quality and value right. More than a decade later, we’ve surpassed one million orders and our customers’ needs have evolved alongside us. That’s pushed us to think beyond the mattress – from bedding and furniture to new products and innovations designed for different stages in life. As our customers grow, start families and their needs change, we want Endy to continue growing with them, while staying focused on making better sleep simple and accessible.”
To mark the opening, Endy will host a grand opening weekend on September 26 and 27. The event will feature an appearance by Ottawa artist and five‑time Juno nominee Jamie Fine, whose presence adds a distinctly local touch. Visitors will also have the chance to take part in giveaways and enjoy complimentary ice cream sandwiches from Moo Shu Ice Cream, a favourite among Ottawa’s dessert lovers. The first one hundred people each day will receive the treat.
Cassidy says that for Endy, “opening a store is about becoming part of the community, not simply opening the doors. We’ve already started building that connection in Ottawa through our sponsorship of the Ottawa 67’s, and we’re excited to deepen it with our first store in the city. Working with local talent and businesses like Jamie Fine and Moo Shu is another way for us to celebrate Ottawa through people and brands that already have a meaningful connection to the city. We want the opening and our presence here longer term to feel like something the community can be part of and relate to.”
Endy’s growth has been defined by its ability to simplify a product category that had long been dominated by complexity. Traditional mattress shopping often involved confusing pricing, aggressive sales tactics and a showroom experience that felt disconnected from real life. Endy offered an alternative. One model. One price. One trial. The clarity resonated with Canadians who wanted a more straightforward approach.
The brand’s focus on Canadian manufacturing and customer service helped it earn multiple awards and build a loyal national following. Today, Endy products are found in homes, cottages and apartments across the country. The Ottawa store represents the next step in the company’s evolution, offering a hybrid retail model that acknowledges how consumer habits have diversified. Some shoppers prefer online ordering. Others want to test products in person. Endy’s expansion reflects that range of preferences. Cassidy says “Endy was built as a digital-first brand, and that will always be an important part of who we are. But we also know that more than 70 per cent of mattress purchases in Canada still happen in-store. As we grow, it’s about meeting customers wherever they prefer to shop and giving them the convenience and simplicity they expect from Endy online, with the option to come in, try the products and speak with someone in person.”
The new store will feature Endy’s complete product lineup. Customers will be able to test mattresses, compare bedding materials and explore furniture options. Staff will be available to guide visitors through product features and answer questions. The space is designed to give shoppers a clear sense of how the products feel and function.
Endy’s arrival adds momentum to Ottawa’s evolving retail landscape. For shoppers, the new store offers a chance to experience a Canadian company that has become a familiar name across the country. For Endy, it represents a deeper commitment to a community that has played a significant role in its growth. “We see this as the beginning of a much deeper relationship with the Ottawa community, ” says Cassidy adding, “we want to be here for the long term, continuing to listen to our customers, evolve the experience and give people more ways to discover Endy. No matter how the brand grows, the goal of helping people get a better night’s sleep so they can wake up rested, energized and ready to Rise to Shine, remains the same.”
