Handmade Jewellery in Ottawa Gets a Magical Touch from Jasper’s Meridians
Jasper’s Meridians is one of those rare market booths that stops you in your tracks. With its shimmering crystals, intricate metalwork, and unmistakably ethereal aesthetic, this Ottawa‑based jewellery brand has become a standout presence at local markets. I first discovered Jasper’s Meridians at an outdoor summer market about a year and a half ago, and I remember being immediately drawn to the way sunlight passed through the crystals, illuminating the delicate wirework that shaped each piece.
As a lover of jewellery, these designs felt like they had stepped straight out of a fantasy novel — whimsical, otherworldly, and unlike anything I had seen before. I left that day with a few necklaces and a suncatcher, and ever since, I’ve made a point of seeking out the booth at every market. Each visit brings new designs, new colours, and new surprises from creator Apryl Norkett.

Jasper’s Meridians began during the COVID‑19 pandemic, when Apryl started selling premade suncatchers. She explains, “I chose suncatchers because I wanted to spread something beautiful in a time when many things were ugly during COVID.” A friend encouraged her to try making them herself, and that suggestion sparked the creative journey that would become Jasper’s Meridians. “I went down this new path of creating,” she says. “I had always been very creative, so it wasn’t completely new to make things — but it was a new craft.” Today, her work blends crystals, metals, resin, wire wrapping, and even flower preservation into a signature style that is instantly recognizable.
Apryl describes her process as “intuitive design,” rarely sketching pieces beforehand. “Everything I make is usually in a flow state,” she explained. “I start with one piece — a crystal, colour, or charm — and go from there. I store ideas in my mind and pull from them when I create.” This instinctive approach gives her work its dreamlike quality, each piece feeling both spontaneous and meticulously crafted. Even the business name carries personal meaning: Jasper and Meridian are the names of her children. “I created my business to support them,” she shared. “They are my heart, and my business was my other love. It only made sense to blend the things I love.”

The Jasper’s Meridians collection has grown into an impressive range of one‑of‑a‑kind creations, including suncatchers, car charms, earrings, circlets, chokers, hair pins, necklaces, orgonite pyramids, rodin coils, wire‑wrapped pendants, bracelets, and rings. No two pieces are ever the same — a deliberate choice. “I love the uniqueness of the things I make,” Apryl says. “I really couldn’t do the same thing over again. It pushes me to expand and allows me to put my heart into what I do.” Her mission is simple: to bring joy. “Each piece I make has the intention to bring happiness wherever it goes. When you surround yourself with things you find beautiful, it can subtly bring a bit of happiness.”
Jasper’s Meridians has gained momentum online through Instagram, YouTube, and a dedicated website where customers can browse and purchase pieces. Apryl regularly updates her social media with upcoming market dates, behind‑the‑scenes videos, and new product drops. This summer, Jasper’s Meridians will also appear at local Renaissance fairs — a perfect setting for her fantasy‑inspired designs.
If you’re attending a market in Ottawa, keep an eye out for the booth glowing with crystals and creativity. Jasper’s Meridians is more than jewellery, it’s wearable art crafted with intention, imagination, and heart.
