How has Bingo changed over the years?

Bingo is one of the most popular games of chance and has an extensive history. From its early days in the 1500s, to now, where people can play online Bingo all over the globe.

Where did it all begin?

The origins of the game are said to have begun in 16th century Italy, and stemmed from a lottery game called ‘Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia’. Early forms of Bingo gradually spread through the rest of Europe, gaining popularity in France in the 18th century and Germany in the 19th century.

By the late 1920s, the iconic game made its way to America where it became known as ‘Beano’. This was because the players put beans on their cards when their numbers were called.

The game was played at local fairs and carnivals until it was slowly introduced into casinos and retirement homes across America.

Bingo halls

One of the elements of Bingo that many players love is being able to socialise. When players are in the Bingo hall together, it creates a sense of community.

Bingo is often associated with the elderly, but as long as you are above the legal age requirement to gamble you are welcome to play Bingo!

Online Bingo

With the fast progression of technology, Bingo was introduced on online platforms in the 21st century, meaning you can now play from the comfort of your own home!

There are even new adaptions to the classic Bingo game we know and love online, and you can now enjoy Bingo slot games, known as Slingo! The aim is to match as many numbers on the reel to those within the 5×5 grid. A Slingo is achieved by getting five numbers in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

90 ball Bingo is the is the most traditional variation of the game, and the rules can vary, but the ultimate goal is to mark either one line, two lines, or a full house of numbers through one to 90.

In most cases, 90-ball bingo is played on a single strip that features a combination of six tickets to be used for each round of gameplay. The 90 numbers are spread across all six tickets, with each number only able to be randomly called out once per game.
