Juno Awards to Make Historic Return to Ottawa

The city is buzzing with anticipation for the JUNO Awards returning to Ottawa in 2017 as part of the country’s 150^th anniversary. The musical birthday bash will transform Ottawa into not just a festival city but a music city as the JUNO Week celebrations take place March 27^th to April 2^nd, 2017.

Multi-Grammy and JUNO Award-winner Michael Bublé will be making a triumphant return as the host of the 46^th annual awards which will take place at the Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday, April 2ND, 2017.

Bublé will return to the JUNO stage following his performance as host at the 2013 JUNO Awards in Regina, which garnered him the Canadian Screen Award for best Host.

“I’m just a kid from Burnaby, so to get the opportunity to host this incredible night in Canadian music, for the second time, is amazing,” said Michael Bublé in a news release.

Modesty aside, Bublé is one of the world’s top selling male artists, with four Grammy Awards and four albums that have hit No. 1 on the Billboard’s Top 200 chart.

This will be Ottawa’s third time hosting Canada’s Music Awards and Mayor Jim Watson has since responded to the announcement with a challenge for the local arts and music community to begin planning an unprecedented week of music in the Capital. “We have so much talent in this city and we want to share your gifts, with Canada and the world,” said the Mayor. “Yes, we want to fill every venue,” he added, “but we also want workshops,

As Ottawa gears up for the awards to take over the Capital, locals and tourists can also expect the city to feature a variety of cultural, musical and sporting events and experiences across the city’s major institutions, landmarks, and neighborhoods.

To date, official programming for Ottawa 2017 has yet to be announced, however a number of key events have already been confirmed for Ottawa to mark Canada’s 150th year, including: Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings curling championship, the Canadian Track and Field Championships and the Canadian Videogame Awards.

Tickets for the 2017 JUNO Awards go on sale Saturday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. ET.

One dollar from each ticket sold goes to MusiCounts, which provides access to musical instruments for Canadian children and youth, via a partnership with the non-profit organization Plus 1.
