Lowertown Brewery: Craft beer and comfort food!

The ByWard Market’s first brewery, Lowertown Brewery is located on York Street in the heart of the market. This special location is not the only thing they can boast of however. Lowertown Brewery also features a fully functioning brewery and open-concept kitchen, replete with a smoker and chicken rotisserie to meet all of your hunger needs. Their menu is full of delicious food. They have some great beer and snack combinations that are perfect for a night out with friends.

Another factor that makes Lowertown so special is the history entrenched in their location and the beers that they make. When crafting new beers, they like to play on the history of the market. For example, their Harvest Loaf Brew is made in the traditional German style. It is a part of their Saw Mill Series, which relates back to the lumber industry that once existed in Ottawa. They also have the New England Style Ale under their Victories Series. That series pays homage to the first brewery in Ottawa, the Victoria. Each beer has its own story.

The craft aesthetics and cozy log-camp-feel interior are the perfect respite from the winter cold – matched only by Lowertown's patio, which offers all-day sun for those who prefer to enjoy their craft beer and amazing sandwiches outside in the summer months.

Lowertown Brewery is just another gem that makes ByWard Market so special. Through historic beers, paired beers and snacks, visitors can expect a place full of innovative drinks and a historic setting.

You won't want to miss what they’re brewing next!
