A Case of Perfect Harmony
Presented by Shaftesbury, the production company behind Murdoch Mysteries, and performed in collaboration with the renowned NAC Orchestra. It’s part concert, part screening, and fully Murdoch—delivered in both English and French for fans across the spectrum. Hosted by series star Yannick Bisson (Detective Murdoch) and acclaimed series composer Rob Carli, the experience offers viewers a new lens through which to explore the show’s intricate storytelling and musical depth.
The orchestra, under the baton of celebrated conductor Lucas Waldin, will take the audience through a rich musical landscape—from original compositions that have scored Murdoch’s many adventures, to famous classical works woven into the show’s episodes over the years.
“Many of us have seen movies performed with live orchestra, but this is something a little different,” says Rob Carli, “In addition to watching an episode created for orchestra, we will also take a step-by-step look at how we create music for the screen. You might learn something!”
The evening’s centrepiece is the screening of Murder in F Major, sure to be a standout episode when performed with its full orchestral score live. The evening promises a bold, sensory experience to enhance every moment of suspense, action, and discovery, elevating the Murdoch story into something unique that must be seen on stage.
From Screen to Symphony
After successful stops in Toronto, Halifax, Victoria, and Edmonton, the production now makes its long-awaited appearance in Ottawa. For the NAC Orchestra, this collaboration is an artistic combination that invites classical fans and TV viewers alike into shared territory.
