You would never guess that the Alt Hotel in Ottawa was having their grand opening Tuesday; dozens of guests were already staying at the hotel and enjoying some of the amenities offered in the café and lounge. In fact, the Alt Hotel Ottawa has been accepting guest for the past few weeks in advance of the grand opening as a soft launch, and the reception to the new hotel has been the most successful in the chain’s history.
The show-stopping modern design of the lobby pays a special tribute to the Ottawa community with a colourful mural of photographs. Altexpo is a collective work of art created from the images of Canadian photographers and Instagrammers Jean-François Frenette , Zara Ansar, Christopher Ryan, Julia Leal and Katie Hession. The eye-catching installation is composed of 9,000 colourful photographs from famous Canadian landscapes and offers insight into the surrounding tourist attractions for guests of the hotel.
This is the first hotel the Canadian hotelier Groupe Germain Hotels has opened in the nation’s capital but it certainly won’t be the last. Christiane Germain, Co-President of Groupe Germain Hotels attended the grand opening and announced that they have future plans to expand.
“This only the beginning as the property will soon have company: we will be opening a new Le Germain Hotel here in Ottawa in 2017,” said Germain.
Conveniently located on Slater Street in the business district, the Alt Hotel Ottawa is the Group’s seventh property under the Alt banner. The hotel’s design combines intelligent design, comfort and attentive service at an affordable price.
Designed by LEMAYMICHAUD Architecture Design and Chmiel Architects, the 14-floor, 148-room Alt Hotel Ottawa boasts a wide array of features that range from thoughtful and practical to pleasantly surprising.
