Tara Shannon’s ‘Unfinished’ is Just the Beginning

Tara Shannon’s new album is called Unfinished. For the award winning singer songwriter from Russell, Ontario, that title has many meanings.

For one, this is Tara Shannon’s first album. For the last 20 years she has had great success in Nashville as a songwriter but despite being offered a record deal at the beginning of her career, her first priority was always her family and seven children.

However, in recent years it was her heart that led her into the recording studio when she released the song ‘Butterfly Child’ to spread awareness and raise funds for Jonathan Pitre, known as the Butterfly Child, as he battled against a painful and life-threatening disease. This return to help Jonathan in his fight, sparked the beginning of a new chapter for Shannon as she starting writing for herself again.

As a result, you may think that her new album Unfinished references the completion of a life-long dream, but after one listen you will understand that it really means that her journey has only just begun.

Self-described as a piano-driven country soul record, every song, like Shannon, is full of heart and life. Her single ‘Love Me Loud’ is the perfect ambassador for this album and makes you want to get up and dance, have a drink, and hug someone all at once.

She is already in the top 10 of the most active Indie downloads and she has just wrapped a whirlwind promotional tour in Nashville.

Now she is taking Ottawa by storm. This Saturday, April 1st you can see her perform her new album live at her Album Launch Party at the Heart & Crown in the Byward Market. This all ages show is sure to get you on your feet and hit you where it hurts.
